Unique Beads and Embroidery Supplies

Welcome to Glimpse Beads, online bead and embroidery supply boutique! As an owner of a jewelry company and a former owner of a bead shop, I have picked the most unique pieces to sell to you! Originally from Ontario, Canada, I lived in Paris France from 2009 2014 learning some of the traditional European craft techniques. In 2009 I became certified in Haute Couture Beadwork and Embroidery through Lesage (an atelier owned by Chanel). While living abroad, I traveled around Europe searching for unique beads and findings to offer to my customers.

A little more about me!
Sarah Cownley is the face behind Glimpse Creations. An award winning Haute Couture jewelry and embroidery designer, she is known for creating one of a kind, pieces that adorn the body as art. After working as an assistant Fashion Merchandiser, and becoming a co-owner of a bead shop she decided it was time to broaden her knowledge of the fashion industry. In 2009, Sarah moved to Paris, France to study at the prestigious atelier Lesage (an atelier owned by Chanel). Here, she learned the craft, and earned a certificate in Haute Couture Embroidery and Beadwork.

Fascinated by the many artisans still working in the craft trade who create pieces for the world of Couture fashion, Sarah has since decided to shed some light on these little known atelier houses, by teaching couture embroidery and giving lectures on the craft trade. She also now incorporates these age old techniques that she learned at Lesage into her own creations.

Sarah is also a freelance fashion writer who attends runway shows at Paris Fashion Week and Haute Couture Week. She has had articles published in magazines and online blogs such as “A Needle Pulling Thread,” “A Girls Guide to Paris,” and “Trend Hunter.”

Sarah holds an honors diploma in Fashion Merchandising and Design, is a graduate of Sheridan College Crafts and Design, majoring in Textile Design and achieved a certificate from PMC Fine Silver Connection in Chicago. She has recently finished an apprenticeship in Paris with Lesage (atelier house owned by Chanel) and received a certificate for Professional Couture Beadwork and Embroidery.

Sarah was recently selected as one of Swarovski Crystal’s Create Your Style top 20 North American designers for 3 consecutive years from 2006. Her work has been showcased at Vancouver Fashion Week, and has been featured on the cover of Salon Magazine. Working with designers, Sarah also supplies samples and production embroidery for fashion and interior designs. Her work has been featured in magazines and newspapers such as “West of the City” and “The Hamilton Spectator,” and “The Burlington Post.” Sarah was also recently seen featured on “CHCH Morning Live,” where she spoke about her jewelry and the world of couture fashion in Paris.

Sarah currently spends her time between Burlington, Ontario and Paris, France where she attends Haute Couture Week and Paris Fashion Week to write and gain inspiration for her jewelry and embroidery.
