I have loved and collected teddy bears my whole life. Being born with the last name of Bear, how could I not be attracted to the soft and fuzzy teddy bears of childhood to the figurines that now fill my shelves. I look at a teddy bear and just Feel Good!! They bring back a lot of fond memories.
The first time I dressed a jointed teddy bear I was looking to make a unique baby gift. I put some clothes on the bear, but it needed something else. I added small wooden alphabet blocks to spell out the baby's name, and I was hooked on finding ways to make teddy bears a gift for any occasion. I started adding more types of clothing, cross stitch to personalize, and I soon had a business going. I started online with my business in 2000, listened to requests from my customers which added more ideas on how to dress a bear. I had a website for 18 years before closing in June of 2018. On my website, I offered hundreds of styles in many different sizes, for many occasions. Some occasions were: wedding, graduation, birthday, illness, cancer patient encouragement, and holidays. I still offer many of those themes in my Etsy Shop. I chose to close my website as I no longer have a supplier for the largest teddy bears that I used to make the majority of my items. So, I am expanding the themes for the smaller bears and enjoying seeing the themes “come to life”.
All of my plush, jointed animals are bought from online suppliers. Many of my designs include cross-stitched messages or personalization. Some come with my original poetry. Besides doing the cross-stitching, I also design and make the clothing.
