Weaving as a Meditative Art

The art of making cloth has always fascinated me -- from those early days of making potholders on a little square loom to more complicated experiences of trying to make cloth paper out of various fibers.

About seven years ago, I visited a shop in Sedona, Arizona, where everything was handwoven and everything was beautiful. I fell in love with the look and feel of handwoven fabrics. Two years ago, I visited the Bisbee (AZ) Fiber Arts Guild center and interviewed Sue, who was busily at work weaving a work out of medical oxygen tubing, hospital linens and strips made from hospital scrubs. I was fascinated. I asked her what she thought about when she wove, and for the next hour she happily explained the creative and meditative aspects of weaving. I was awestruck by the degree of passion she had for her craft and could not get it out of my head.

Two years ago, I purchased a rigid heddle loom and began exploring the wonderful world of plain weave to create my own cloth. My own creative and meditative experiences have been amazing, and at the end of a project, something new and unique has been brought into the world.

I am a plain weaver. I work at a rigid heddle loom. I was a seamstress for many years, always fascinated with creating original designs. Weaving takes that one step further by allowing me to create original fabrics that represent my aesthetic.

Welcome to my shop. I am a plain weaver. I create beautifully woven items for home and body from all sorts of yarns made from all kinds of fibers. Weaving is a meditative art. The act of weaving offers me the opportunity to be artistically expressive and create unique and non-traditional designs in a relaxing, reflective, private environment. I love being able to share my work with the world.
