Items for sale on the Beaverhead Treasures Etsy Shop are individually produced, one at a time, by hand. Great care and attention to detail is given to each step when creating your purchase.

Items for sale on the Beaverhead Supplies Etsy Shop are quilting patterns, batik and cotton fabrics from many top well known companies.

About the Owner
I live in a rural farming and ranching area in southwest Montana, so less than a handful of neighbors within 5 square miles. I try to keep the carbon footprint of my products low by employing Eco-Friendly practices while creating items from natural materials sourced locally and from the USA.

I only carry fabrics that are actually used day to day, so I know they work well. The patterns you find here relate to nature, animals, or represent the history of quilting... all topics I love.

Wonderful quality materials are used in every handmade piece, and all designs are original. I do custom work in my mediums of leather and fabric.

Quality is very important, you should get something wonderful for your hard earned money. Every item is checked before shipping, and your purchases are packaged with care.

Your purchases are sure to be unique, hand made, and well crafted. We want you to be thrilled with your purchase, so we have a 100% customer satisfaction policy.

Fabric Information
--------------------------
Beaverhead Treasures sells high quality 100 percent cotton fabrics for your special quilt project. Choose from Hoffman, Robert Kaufman, Freshwater Designs, Galaxy, RJR Fabrics, Timeless Treasures, Benartex, Michael Miller and more. Can I use these fabrics for Children's Sleepwear?
No, these fabrics are not suitable for Children's Sleepwear.

What do I need to think about when choosing a bed quilt pattern?
Just about any size pattern may be duplicated, enlarged, or used as a basis for any size quilt. If you are not comfortable re-sizing a quilt pattern, then purchase a pattern that most closely matches the final bed quilt size you want to make. Final size adjustments are made many times in the border area by adding, subtracting, reducing, or enlarging a border fabric.

Questions to consider when choosing a pattern to make a bed sized quilt.
1. Will the quilt just fit the top of the bed?
2. Will the quilt hang over each side and by how much?
3. Will the quilt have to cover pillows at the top?
4. What type of fabric will be used?
5. What type and loft of batting will be used?
6. Will the quilting be sparse, medium, or tight?

Suggested Bed-size Quilt Dimensions
Sizing Notes: The best way to figure the quilt size is to measure the bed where the quilt will live.

1. The below dimensions include about a 15" drop on both sides and the bottom of the quilt.
2. These sizes are designed for use with a dust ruffle, and no extra length is included on the top for a pillow tuck.
3. Moderate to heavy quilting may reduce the finished size of your quilt by 1" to 3" (or more).
4. Add more to the width and length for deeper mattresses.

- Twin 68" x 89"
- Twin X-Long 68" x 94"
- Full/Double 84" x 89"
- Queen 90" x 95"
- King 108" x 95"
- Cal-King 102" x 100"

Suggested Crib and Lap Quilt Sizes
Sizing Notes: Lap quilt sizes vary greatly, depending on the recipient and how it will be used.

Baby Quilt 36″ x 36″ to 52″ x 52″
Lap Quilt for a Wheelchair 36″ x 36″ to 38″ x 48″ (consider adding ties so the quilt doesn't slip off)
Lap Quilt 42" x 48" to 64" x 78"

What is the minimum order for fabric?
When ordering individual fabrics by the yard the minimum cut is one yard. Multiple yards will be sent as one continuous piece of fabric.

Leather & Stone Information
----------------------------------------
Soapstone
Soapstone is a rock (also known as steatite or soaprock) and is composed primarily of talc and shares many physical properties with that mineral. Softer grades may feel soapy when touched, hence the name. There is no fixed hardness for soapstone because the amount of talc it contains varies widely, from as little as 30% for architectural grades such as those used on countertops, to as much as 80% for carving grades. Soapstone is used for inlaid designs, sculpture, coasters, kitchen countertops, and sinks. It is heat resistant, nonabsorbent, nonporous, resistant to acids and alkalis, and has low electrical conductivity. The Inuit often use soapstone for traditional carvings, and it has been a medium for carving for thousands of years. Beaverhead Treasures only uses USA sourced soapstone.

Beaver
In North American beavers, 50% have pale brown fur, 25% are reddish brown, 20% are brown and 6% are blackish. Beaverhead Treasures only uses USA sourced Beaver.

Bison
Bison hide grain is more distinct than cowhide leather grain, with a more earthy or rustic look. The grain and texture is bold, pronounced with larger, natural pebbling and wrinkling. The hides are naturally more scarred and marked than most leathers. Since the American bison is often called buffalo, bison leather is sometimes known as "buffalo leather". However, the American bison is not related to the Asian water buffalo, which is the only animal that can truly lay claim to the name "buffalo." Beaverhead Treasures only uses USA sourced Bison.

Cow
Cowhide is durable, comfortable, breathable and chafe-resistant. Cowhide is easy to care for, because it is dirt and water-resistant. Cowhide is much heavier than goatskin, and it is one of the heaviest leathers. It takes the shape of the wearer, and is broken in easily. Cowhide also has a pebble grain exterior. High-end cowhide is soft and supple. Calfskin is made from young calves and is soft, fine, lightweight leather with a high shine. Beaverhead Treasures uses high quality hides primarily from the USA, England and Italy.

Deer
Deerskin leather is an extremely soft, supple and luxurious leather. It's stretchable, lightweight, breathable, and durable. It molds to the feet and body with repeated wear, and is ranked as the third strongest leather available. One of the unique aspects of deerskin is that is can be repeatedly wetted and dried without incurring damage. Beaverhead Treasures uses locally sourced Montana, and farm raised New Zealand Deerskin.

Elk
Elk leather is stronger and heavier than deer leather, but not as thick as bison. It is very soft and supple to the touch, stretches less than deer, and wears better. It is prized for its texture and unique grain, which is distinctive from any other kind of leather. Elk leather is rarer and more expensive than deer due to it's seasonal availability. Beaverhead Treasures only uses USA sourced Elk.

Goat
Goatskin is more durable than cowhide. It is softer and more supple because of the lanolin in the leather. This lightweight hide is flexible, so you typically do not have to break in goatskin products. It is more durable than cowhide and is water-resistant. Goatskin is warm, but breathable, so it is comfortable to wear. Goatskin has a pebble-like grain, so the grain has distinctive ridges. Goatskin leather is produced into straight-grained leather that is rolled in the same direction while it is drying, and crushed goatskin is rolled and ironed to flatten the ridges. Kidskin is from young goats, and is very soft. Beaverhead Treasures only uses Italian sourced goatskin.

Lamb
Lambskin is a type of leather made only from the hide of young sheep. Unlike most other animal hides that are used for leather, lambskin is more delicate, and tanning must be done more gently. It is softer and more supple than other leathers, more expensive, and is considered more luxurious. Besides being smooth and silky, it is insulative and protective, especially for its thinness. However, it is not as durable and may be easily damaged. Beaverhead Treasures primarily uses Italian sourced lamb.

Sheep
The fleece of sheepskin has excellent insulating properties and it is also resistant to flame and static electricity. Wool is considered by the medical profession to be hypoallergenic. Sheepskin refers to the hide of a sheep used with the wool still attached. Usually, the wool side faces into the garment or accessory, but it can also be made reversible. The wool can be ironed, which means straightened to yield a smooth, fur-like appearance, or it can be left naturally curly. Whichever way the wool is styled, this is the warmest leather available. Beaverhead Treasures primarily uses Italian sourced sheep.
