BeckPots is taking a short break

I love this mug. It arrived carefully packed using recycled material. The colors are beautiful and it’s nicely made. It’s not heavy, and the handle is comfortable for the size of the mug, which is small. It’s slightly bigger than a teacup, which is what I use it for. Casey enclosed a thank you note in the box with the mug, which was unexpected and appreciated. I’m taking a college ceramics class, and we are required to purchase a mug as our text book this semester. The class will be sharing, critiquing and comparing mugs in a few weeks. Next time I think I’ll look for a large coffee mug, with the same wonderful finish.
Soda and Wood Fired Pottery
Beck received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in ceramics at The University of Wisconsin-River Falls in the spring of 2019. During his undergraduate studies, Beck fell in love with atmospheric firing methods and has received numerous grants to pursue research in down-firing both wood and soda kilns, along with investigating materials within these atmospheres. Beck has shown his work locally at galleries such as The Phipps in Hudson, WI and at Northern Clay Center in Minneapolis, MN, and has been included in many national juried exhibitions. He spent the summer of 2018 as a resident artist at the Cub Creek Foundation in rural Virginia making pots and choppin’ wood. Beck currently lives in St. Paul, MN and works at Northern Clay Center, peddling wares in the sales gallery and teaching classes. He is a recipient of the 2020 Jerome Ceramic Artist Project Grant in which he will continue to seek understanding of the process of down-firing soda kilns.
Beck is currently pursuing his MFA in ceramics at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln.

My wares are food, and microwave safe. Although they will be fine in the dishwasher, I do recommend handwahsing as dishwasher detergents can something be harmful to the glazes. My wares can go in the oven at your own risk. I have tested my wares going from freezing cold to boiling water and putting them in the hot oven but this is stressful on the clay and it may break over time. I recommend slowly heating up the dishes and cooling slowly if possible.
Gift wrapping and packaging
I typically ship my packages with reused materials as I try to cut back on my carbon footprint and gives shipping materials at least one more life. I am happy to send gifts - let me know if you would like a personalized note included.
