Where have all the beds and blankies gone?

Sometime around 2005, I had a job I didn't like and decided to see if I could make my way in the world by selling the doll beds and quilts I created in my spare time. I started a website and named it Beds-n-Blankies. The name made perfect sense at the time!

I had never sewn doll clothes so I asked my sister if she would make some pajamas and robes for my dolls to wear while they modeled the quilts. Eventually, I got tired of always seeing my dolls dressed in nighties so I asked if she would make a couple dresses. Requests for tops, bottoms, costumes and swim suits soon followed. I began to feel like a mooch, always asking for more and more clothes. I decided I needed to be self sufficient and learn how to make my own doll clothes and with a lot of guidance and tips from my sister, my clothes sewing skills gradually improved.

It didn't take long before I figured out how to modify patterns and make reversible clothes, followed by how to design and draft my own patterns. This new skill, combined with my quilting background and passion for coordinating fabrics and textures, my doll wardrobe doubled quickly! I had more clothes than I could ever use by myself so I started selling it. I still love to quilt but that has taken a back seat to all the doll clothes ideas that are floating around in my head.

Frequently asked questions

What size doll does this fit?

Do all 5'5" people wear the same size? No! The size of 18" dolls can vary just as much as the size of people. Some brands are quite thin while others are very plump. Even dolls within the same brand line may vary in size based on when they were manufactured.

My doll clothes are specifically designed to fit 18" American Girl Dolls. It will be slightly loose on the current dolls and snug on the older dolls.

It will also fit most 18" Our Generation, My Life As, My Sibling/My Pal, Gotz, Madame Alexander, My Imagination, Springfield and similar sized dolls. Some things will be large on Journey Girls.

It will not fit Boy Story, Carpatina, Magic Attic, Kidz-N-Cats, BFC Inc.

Please contact me if you have questions or need measurements.

Is this safe for children?

Many items are safe for children.

Some things are made for adult collectors and older, responsible children (13+) for display purposes and gentle play only.

Listing descriptions will state if an item contains:
* Parts that are ARE NOT TOYS and may not be suitable for children under age 13.
* Parts that are DELICATE and may be damaged by young children or rough play.
* Long strings or SMALL PARTS that may pose a strangulation or CHOKING HAZARD for young children, babies and pets.

How is it made?

I make every effort to provide you with well fitting, durable clothes that are beautiful both inside and out. Some of my garments are reversible, many have full linings, all are professionally finished. Clothing, jewelry and accessories are made with high quality materials, well practiced techniques and a lot of attention to detail.

I test materials for bleeding and crocking. However, due to the nature of vinyl, dyes and fabrics, staining may occur and it is highly recommend that you check and change your dolls frequently, no matter who makes your doll clothes.

When will it ship?

Ready to ship items are usually mailed in 1 to 2 business days.

Orders are queued as they are received. If you need a "Made To Order" item in a hurry, please contact me before you purchase to see if I can meet your deadline.

Upgrading to Priority Mail only involves the USPS and does not make me sew faster!

How will it ship?

Orders ship for a flat rate of $3.25 via USPS, First Class with tracking, delivery confirmation and insurance. (Please allow 10 business days for deliver.)

All orders are carefully inspected before wrapping and shipping. If something is damaged in transit, please keep the packaging it arrived in and contact me immediately. I will need photos of the damaged item and the packaging for insurance purposes.

Shipping upgrades are available at checkout. (Priority Mail upgrade only involves the USPS delivery time and does not effect my processing time.)

If stolen mail is a problem in your area, upgrading your order to include a Signature Confirmation may help reduce the risk of theft. Packages marked "Delivered" are no longer insured.
