Frequently asked questions
My cookies haven’t arrived yet!

Cookies are shipped via USPS Priority Mail and they are usually delivered within 3 days. Please understand that once I hand your package over to USPS, its progress through their shipping system is *out of my control*. No refunds will be processed for packages delayed fewer than 15 days (USPS considers it lost at 15 days and a claim can be submitted), so if it is critical that your cookies arrive by a certain date, please upgrade to USPS Priority Express.

Tell me about your gluten-free (GF) cookies.

I use Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Flour as my base and add the same high quality ingredients that are in my regular sugar cookies. These cookies are also nut-free! Please note that my GF cookies share equipment with my regular cookies, so they are NOT suitable for customers with serious reactions to gluten.

Do you accept advance orders?

Advance orders are accepted and appreciated! I have found that some customers who place their order too early end up changing their mind about the design details, so I'd suggest completing orders no more than 3 months in advance. I'm always happy to begin discussing ideas before then!

How are cookies packaged and how are they prepared for shipping?

Cookies are individually packaged in a cellophane bag and heat sealed to maximize freshness.

Shipped cookies are bubble wrapped and usually *double-boxed* so they can better withstand rough handling by USPS. Shapes that are really fragile (i.e. with very narrow parts) can be recreated on a sturdier shape. Contact me and we can get into details!

I put a lot of love and effort into making beautiful cookies for you, so I want them to arrive at your door intact just as much as you do! Despite the extra care I put into packaging them securely, sometimes cookies still break. Please see the FAQ regarding damaged cookies for more info.

Do your cookies contain nuts? What other potential food allergens should I be aware of?

None of my cookies contain nuts. However, they are made in a kitchen where peanuts, tree nuts, and soy are used.

My cookies arrived broken/damaged! :(

Your package is shipped with insurance. If your cookies arrive broken or significantly damaged, please photograph the label, boxes (with packaging materials), and broken/damaged cookies. Photos must be submitted to USPS as part of the damage claim, so it's better to take extra shots (especially if you prefer to toss the packaging while the claim is being processed).

I am happy to submit the claim and refund you once it is paid, or you can initiate it and be paid by USPS directly. If you prefer the former, I will need you to send me the photos so I have all the documentation needed.

How long do the cookies stay fresh? How do I store them?

The cookies will stay tasty for at least two weeks from when I ship or deliver, as long as they remain in their sealed bags.

Indoors at room temperature is ideal (refrigeration is not recommended). Keep away from extreme heat and/or direct sunlight. Exposure to prolonged heat (e.g. hours in a hot car) may cause the icing to stick to the bag and ruin the finish; UV rays may make the icing look blotchy and/or faded.

Freeze extras in their sealed bags and in an airtight container to enjoy later. Just defrost at room temperature (in their bag) or unwrap and lightly warm in a toaster oven!

Oh, no! I made a mistake with the shipping address and my cookies didn't arrive!

Oops! Unfortunately, I cannot be responsible for delays or missing packages because the ship-to address was entered incorrectly (either because of typos, missing information, or because it was intended to be sent somewhere else). Cookies are shipped to the address on your order as it was entered at the time I receive it, even if you include another one in the order notes.

I can meet you near/in Mountain View (CA); can I skip shipping and pick up my cookies instead?

Yes! If you are local, I am happy to meet you to deliver your cookies. Contact me for a coupon code to waive shipping charges! Your cookies will be delivered in a window bakery box.

Do you offer discounts for large orders?

Each cookie I make is lovingly baked, decorated, and packaged by hand. There are no economies of scale for this kind of craft, so I do not offer discounts for large orders -- more cookies simply take more time to make. Thank you for understanding and valuing the time it takes me to create cookies, just for you!
