About

Welcome to my world of bunnies, birds and cloudy skies.

Hi, I'm Belinda Stanton, but please call me Belin.

I started uni (a little while ago) doing Fine Arts in 2d, textiles and ceramics. Before I finished though, my family grew and I changed to graphic design. I never stopped creating and worked mainly in 2d.

So one afternoon in Summer 2010, my husband put a bag of clay, a table and some chairs in the back yard under a makeshift 'clothesline umbrella'. Then asked me if I'd show the kids (with a few ring-ins) how to 'make stuff' and supervise for a while.

So I started going through the motions learned at art school: knead, roll, coil, shape; knead, roll, coil, shape. The kids all left, but I got hooked and haven't been able to stop ever since.

All of my work has been designed with the same theme. To be engaging. Simply if my work makes someone smile, it has worked. So most of my pieces are showing what it feels like to be blissfully content.
I use a stoneware/porcelain blend which is extremely durable and vitrified (non porous). With care, these pieces could last several life times. The carbon foot print of all of these items is vanishingly small. All items are inert and not toxic to the environment.

There are a few photo's of my studio and progress shots at my blog, and in my instagram feed. If you like my work please feel free to share/favourite my shop, blog, facebook or instagram.

All pieces in my shop started as wet clay.
Were formed into shape by my hands (thrown or built).
Allowed to dry a little then carved by me.
Inlay applied, excess carved away, then colour (if any) painted by me.
Dried properly then bisque fired (2 days) by me.
Brush or dip glazed by me.
Glaze fired (3 days) by me.
Photography by me.
My partner helps in the studio sometimes and is responsible for most of the distribution.
I'm offering finished pieces with a lot of work in them, not patterns to copy.

Thanks to all the awesome bloggers, tumblr's, pinners and treasury makers for all your help!
