The Inspiration for Julies threaded needle

We started this shop as a way to supplement a one income household and to help my daughter Sarah or any of our other five children that wished to work from home do so.
We love dolls and with 4 girls in the family have collected quite a few of them. All dolls need clothes and this was a way to teach the girls how to sew by making doll clothes.

Since my two oldest children now 21 and 20, were 2 and 3 we have gotten together with my siblings and their families and celebrated All Saints Day. The children each pick a saint, dress up as them and tell their story to our extended family members (55 and counting). It is a cherished family custom that we look forward to each year.

We are also very blessed to be able to live in beautiful northern Michigan! A couple years back we were on a Sunday drive and ended up at the largest Nun museum in the U.S. There are 525 nun dolls and 20 mannequins whose traditional habits depict 217 different religious orders of nuns and priests.

It is the combination of these three things that inspired us to start this shop. We love dressing our dolls so why not dress them in Saint costumes and Nun Habits. What better kind of play could there be for my girls.

That's our story in a nutshell. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read about us. God bless you!

Hello, and welcome to Julie's Threaded Needle! I'm Sarah, no longer the: "home-schooled teenager" I was when we started this shop but a happily married young lady who now lives in Montana. Sewing is one of my hobbies, and I especially enjoy making doll clothing. So I decided to combine my love of the Catholic faith and my God-given sewing talent to come up with these little habits and saint costumes for 18" dolls. My mom and I run this shop together from across the country, so my items ship from Montana well hers still ship from Michigan. I live on a ranch so there's always animals around, we have two kittens that are indoor-outdoor cats, my mom also has cats but they live outdoors. Both households are smoke free.

My mom, Julie and I have been making and selling these on our blog, Crusaders for Christ since December of 2012.
All doll saint costumes are under copyright by Sarah Marie Hackmann and Julie's Threaded Needle.
