La costura ha comenzado como una pasión para mí y ahora se ha convertido en mi negocio, va a ser un viaje para hacer esto a tiempo completo, pero ese es mi objetivo con mi tienda.
Sewing has started out as a passion for me and has now become my business, it's going to be a journey to do this full time but that is my goal with my shop
Mi nombre es Brian, aprendí a coser a una edad temprana y soy autodidacta. Mi viaje comenzó haciendo paños de cocina solo por diversión y luego progresé a coser mantas para bebés. La primera manta que hice fue para mi sobrina. En ese momento pensé que sabía todo lo que había sobre costura, y mirando hacia atrás chico estaba equivocado, pero está bien, así es como aprendemos. Un día tuve el coraje de hacer una bolsa con cremallera, sé que cuando se trata de coser para algunas cremalleras puede ser aterrador y un dolor.
Bueno, después de un par de intentos, finalmente hice una bolsa que funcionó. Pensar en dónde empecé es gracioso porque quién hubiera pensado que ahora estaría haciendo bolsos y billeteras únicas hechas a mano. Completo con herrajes personalizados, telas e incluso usando vinilo, recuerdo cuántas veces rompí agujas porque usé la equivocada u olvidé mover el tirón de la cremallera antes de cortarla. Eso todavía sucede en ocasiones, pero sé cómo solucionarlo ahora.
Todavía tengo un largo camino por recorrer en mi viaje, hay algunos objetivos más que me he fijado como poder pagar una máquina industrial y tal vez incluso ofrecer clases sobre cómo coser. Así que actualmente coso en una máquina semi-industrial, que es una gran máquina, pero nunca se pueden tener demasiadas máquinas. (Tengo 1 máquinas de coser y 2 de bordar) Entonces, mi otro objetivo de poder enseñar a otros es algo en lo que realmente no pensé hasta hace poco. Cuando llego a hablar de costura me trae alegría y quiero compartir eso con los demás. Muéstrales que coser no da tanto miedo, pero puede ser costoso una vez que comiences (confía en mí).
My name is Brian, I learned to sew at a young age and I am self-taught. My journey started out making Tea towels just for fun and then progressed to sewing baby blankets. The first blanket I made was for my niece. At the time I thought I knew all there was about sewing, and looking back boy was I wrong but that's okay that's how we learn. I got the courage one day to make a zipper pouch, I know when it comes to sewing for some zippers can be scary and a pain.
Well after a couple of tries I finally made a pouch that worked. Thinking about where I began it's funny because who would have thought I would now be making unique handmade bags and wallets now. Complete with custom hardware, fabrics and even using vinyl, I remember how many times I broke needles because I used the wrong one or forgot to move the zipper pull before cutting it. That still happens on occasion but I know how to fix it now.
I still have a long way to go in my journey, there are a few more goals that I have set for myself like being able to afford an Industrial machine and maybe even offer classes on how to sew. So I currently sew on a semi-industrial machine, which is a great machine, but you can never have too many machines. (I have 1 sewing and 2 Embroidery machines) Then my other goal of being able to teach others is something I didn't really think about until recently. When I get to talking about sewing it brings me joy and I want to share that with others. Show them that sewing is not that scary but it can get expensive once you start (trust me).
