5 out of 5 starsSuch beautiful yarn! Rustic but soft and the color is exquisite -- so many shades within the blue. I've cast on a sock and am enjoying seeing the color play out. Wonderful, wonderful yarn! Thank you also for speedy shipping!

Owner, Artist, Farmer
I'm the shepherd at Bellwether Farm, where we raise heritage breeds of sheep. When I'm not tending my flock and working with fiber, I work as a children's librarian.
Shop policies
We grow our own wool from our flock of Shetland and Gotland sheep in Michigan. Our sheep have a wide range of natural colors and textures, from sparkling white, to oatmeal brown, to pure black. Occasionally we blend our fiber with locks or wool from other breeds. We try to keep it as local as possible.
Most of our fiber is processed by hand in small batches. Each batch is slightly different from the next because no two sheep are the same. Even within the same sheep, there can be subtle changes in texture and color from season to season. We do our very best to skirt our fleeces well, but understand that our fibers are rustic and there may be a small amount of vegetable matter (hay, straw, etc.) that was missed in processing.
