About

A Passion for Design

I've always had a passion for art and design. After being laid off from my fancy gig at a big Minneapolis ad agency when the economy went sour in 2008, I started Benign Objects as a small, one-person shop where I could design and create all manner of things, from wedding invitations to pillows!

My biggest seller is custom printed handkerchiefs, which I started producing for others after receiving a lot of inquiries about them following a mention on Style Me Pretty. Things have been going wonderfully since then, with numerous mentions and features of my work in some of my favorite magazines, like Martha Stewart Weddings and Southern Weddings.

I work diligently to try to add unique products and designs to my shop and to provide prompt and warm customer service.

Welcome to my shop! I've filled it with with items born out of my passion for design. I also do custom work including one-of-a-kind wedding invitation design, branding, logos and package design for businesses. Please take some time to read through my policies and FAQ. Pricing for printed invitations and announcements is below:

Cards and announcements are listed at our minimum quantity of twenty (25), and are available in increments of 5 thereafter. If you’d like to order more than 25, please purchase the shop listing to get started. We’ll invoice you for the remaining balance and begin design work on your proof.

This pricing is for printing on your choice of smooth 110# uncoated cardstock or #110 white felt weave cardstock (which has a bit of tooth like watercolor paper). Additional paper upgrades—such as velvety, tree-free cotton paper or extra luxe, double thick paper—are below.

We can print your return address on the flap of the plain white envelopes included in your suite in any color for .45 per envelope.Please request this upgrade in the Notes to Seller area once you make your purchase and you will be invoiced for the remainder.

We're happy to provide customers with up to 3 rounds of proof revisions. After that, you may purchase additional proofs for $10 each.

PLEASE NOTE: Color Customization is an additional $10 flat fee and is not included in the listing price.

Payment
I accept both PayPal payments, Etsy direct checkout and Etsy giftcards. At the final step of Checkout, you can either sign in to you PayPal account OR use a credit card without having to register for a PayPal account.

Please note: Design work and/or printing will not begin until payment is complete.

If you choose to pay by echeck through PayPal, design work and/or printing will not begin until payment has cleared (generally 3-5 business days after payment).

Non-payment transactions will be canceled after 3 days.

8% sales tax will be added to all purchases from Alabama.

Shipping
I usually ship using the USPS, If you would like to have the shipping upgraded or need things in a rush, please let me know so I can calculate that extra cost of shipping.

Shipping overseas can get a bit tricky as prices vary. To send via Fedex or UPS will be between $130-150 for a handkerchief order of around 100 and is guaranteed. To send it via US Postal Service is about $20, but is not guaranteed by me or the postal service and there is not really a way to track it. So, that means that if the package is lost, it's lost and neither me or the post office can be held liable. However, I ship internationally this way most often (most people don't want to pay $130!) and have never had a problem so far, but I wanted to make sure to give full disclosure.
Refunds and Exchanges
Many of my products are made to order and/or personalized and therefore once a proof is approved and the items are printed, they are yours. If an item is damaged in mailing, I require you submit photos to me of the product AND of the packaging that it arrived in, so I may submit a claim to the postal service. You must also return the damaged product to me. If it is not a custom item, you can return the item to me and I will gladly refund your money.

Please allow 2 business days for me to reply to your inquiries.

I NEVER start any work without a 50% deposit. This is industry standard.

***The Process***
For custom items, I will send digital proofs in 4-5 business days once an order is placed (meaning deposit or payment in full is received) and customization info is received. Proofs will not be provided prior to payment.

3 rounds of proofing are included. Additional edits will be require a proofing charge of $10.00.

Once a proof is approved, printing will commence. Proofing is *solely* your responsibility and I will not be held responsible for any errors discovered after final approval has been given. Once you approve a proof and an item is printed as you approved, you may not alter it and the item is non-refundable

***Turnaround Times***

1. Production time varies on item being purchased, but a general guideline is:
2. Printable Items: 1-2 business days after your approval of design proof
3. Custom Printable Items: Proof in 2-3 business days after ordering
4. Printed Invitations/Stationery/Paper: 4-6 weeks
5. Custom Handkerchiefs: 6-8 weeks
6. DIY Handkerchiefs: Proof in 2-3 business days after ordering. Handkerchiefs shipped within 1-2 business days.

If the above turnaround time does not meet your deadline, you can request a rush order that we will accommodate if possible. Rush charges apply.
Rush fee is 25% of your total order.

***Custom Listings***
Please only request a custom listing if you plan on ordering; they take time and money to create!

I reserve the right to cancel or change an unpaid reserved listing at any time

***Samples***
Samples come from past orders and are not customized.

***Colors***
I will do my best to match colors according to a color swatch you provide, but will not guarantee it as colors may appear or print different from the color you see on your monitor.

***Shipping***
For your protection and mine, I DO NOT ship to an address provided separately in e-mail, convo, or notes to seller.

Please make sure your shipping address is correct before you place your order.

You will receive an email when your order is shipped - please check your Purchases page or email before inquiring.

Shipping within the US:
USPS First Class or Priority Mail with delivery confirmation. This typically takes 2-3 business days on average. There is no guaranteed delivery day.

International Shipping:
International destinations are manually set up and individually estimated -please provide destination country and phone number when inquiring.

We are not responsible for delays caused by customs or local postal service

All customs forms will be marked "merchandise" at the full purchase price. Thus, the customer is responsible for all customs and brokerage fees assessed upon delivery
Please allow sufficient time for your item to be produced and delivered.

***Refunds***
None are given for custom items after final approval of proof.

Changes are not possible once printing has started, and there is no refund on orders already printed
