Printmaking and Books
Faço livros, zines e bloqueios desde o ensino médio, e há muito tempo me interesso pela aparência dos livros e artigos de papel. Por volta de 2002, esses interesses evoluíram para a minha microprimida Beth Bee Books.
A arte em/nos meus livros inclui desenhos de caneta & tinta, estampas de blocos e impressões de tela. Depois de muitos anos apenas vendendo livros em etsy, minha loja agora também inclui arte de colagem de blocos. Eu também sou um pintor de petróleo. Espero que chegue um momento em que eu também ofereça impressões das minhas pinturas aqui.
Enquanto isso, trabalho em minha arte meio período do meu estúdio em Corvallis, uma cidade universitária de cerca de 60.000 pessoas no oeste de Oregon, localizada ao sul de Portland, no exuberante e produtivo Vale Willamette. Eu também trabalho em tempo integral durante minha semana em uma profissão não-arte, e tudo isso me mantém muito ocupado.
Eu já estava publicando versões anteriores de zine-like de Rabbit Food Cookbook e fazendo livros de endereços quando abri esta loja com Etsy no verão de 2007. A loja e meus produtos continuaram a crescer desde então. Um dos aspectos mais divertidos de administrar a loja é conhecer todos os lugares ao redor dos EUA e do mundo onde meus livros e outras obras de arte estão indo. Eu amo fazer parte da comunidade de artes e artesanato indie e eu realmente gosto da conexão direta que tenho aqui com clientes e outros artistas. ☆
I've been making books and zines and block prints since high school, and I've long been interested in the look and feel of books and paper goods. By around 2002, these interests evolved into my micropress Beth Bee Books.
The artwork in/on my books includes pen & ink drawings, block prints, and screen prints. After many years only selling books on etsy, my shop now also includes block print collage artwork. I’m also an oil painter. Hopefully a time will come when I also offer prints of my paintings here.
In the meantime I work on my art part-time from my home studio in Corvallis, a university city of about 60,000 in Western Oregon, located south of Portland, in the lush and agriculturally productive Willamette Valley. I also work full-time during my weekdays in a non-art profession, and all of that keeps me pretty busy.
I was already self-publishing earlier zine-like versions of Rabbit Food Cookbook and making address books when I opened this shop with Etsy in the summer of 2007. The shop and my products have continued to grow since then. One of the most fun aspects of running the shop is knowing all the places around the US and the world where my books and other artworks are going. I love being part of the indie arts and crafts community and I really enjoy the direct connection I have here with customers and other artists. ☆
