I am a mixed media abstract painter, focused on spreading joy through art. I express joy through painting vibrant abstracts, flowers, and inspirational quotes. I mainly create with acrylic paint, however, I love experimenting and adding pastels, watercolors, oils, and other materials within my paintings to add different textures. My husband, puppy and I live in Western, NC where I work from my home studio and am the Art Director at our local Boys and Girls Club as well.
The process of painting is very playful and spontaneous for me. My paintings involve lots of layering until I feel that the piece is harmonious and bursting with joy. I truly appreciate each step of creating a painting and feel blessed to have the privilege to share with you all!
Growing up, I would spend hours coloring, painting, and making crafts from anything I could find. I just loved to create, and still do! Creating beautiful art has always been a passion of mine, however, I didn't begin studying fine art seriously until college.
I attended a (very) small, beautiful, mountain college with the intentions of becoming a photographer, however, I ended up falling in love with painting instead! So, I concentrated on painting as my major and obtained my bachelor's degree as well as my K-12 Art teacher licensure.
You'll find that my absolute favorite things to paint are flowers! I get most of my inspiration from nature, the children that I teach, as well as from my faith. I enjoy using bright colors and combining acrylic paints, oil paints, graphite, calligraphy ink, and paper goods to create my unique works of art.
I re-opened my etsy shop in the very beginning of 2015 as a print shop of my mixed media paintings. I create my art, manage my business as well as teach part time (thankful to have lots of much needed support from everyone!) I'm so excited to have the opportunity to share my art with the world. I love what I do and hope the joy that I have is evident in each of my works of art!
