Thankyou, this blanket all the way to Australia is just divine and the colours are so rich and stitching is beautifully done. I love that I have a piece of your heart and that it is handmade. I went through 250 pages of crochet blankets on Etsy and I knew 'the one' was waiting for me and it was yours, blessings

Thank you for the beautiful Christmas gift for my Mom and for also enclosing a special gift note in with her crocheted blanket. She truly loved it! It was a pleasure doing business with you

About

knited goods & jewelry from an all around art freak

i learned how to knit and crochet from my grandmother without being able to communicate with her. she spoke Turkish and broken Armenian, and i English and broken Farsi. i remember as a young girl sitting amongst the women in my family, my mom, aunts and cousins, listening to them talk, gossip mostly, and laugh whole-heartedly at life and all the misfortunes of the day. it was a happy place, a warm and loving place, a place where no matter what was happening outside (war, revolution, rationed food lines... inset your own oppressive situation here) there was always hope and promise of a better day ahead.
i grew up in Iran during the thick of the post revolution madness and war. i am a proud product of my Azerbaijani mother and Persian father, who thought me to be proud of all the positive things that have come from our ancestral homeland, yet humble to accept all of life’s unexpected twists and turns. between my immediate family, we sing, knit, paint, draw, write stories, wood work, dabble with calligraphy and photography, make jewelry and sew... i can hardly credit myself for my artistic abilities and must thank my parents for contributing their creative genes and their unconditional love and support of my art.
i have lived in the US for most of my life, calling Texas home for decades now. i studies biology, always admiring the art in science, which led me to become a medical & scientific illustrator. i love what i do and never get tired of drawing the rugae of stomach or the fallopian tubes. i will always be an art junkie and a science geek.
i get inspired by nature, ethnic motifs and vivid colors. i love cats, the Bronte sisters, the Pre-Raphaelite movement in art and foreign films. i listen to the music of Dead Can Dance as if i had lived back in time. in an alternate universe or another life, i would be Dutch and a sheep farmer in New Zealand. if i win the lottery i would pay off my school loans, set my parents up for retirement and travel the world. i've lived in England, been to India, and dream of going to Bhutan. i truly believe in random acts of kindness.
jewelry making is a relatively new passion of mine, but based on my family's artistic lineage it must have always been in my blood. i recently acquired a tri-loom from a dear friend who weaved for many years. she taught me how to weave and i inherited 9 more bins of yarn. my better half is a sweet man who puts up with my almost hoarder like habits when it comes to yarns and beads. he also works with wood (he hand-carved a wooden love spoon for me when we started dating... i knew i would marry him then and there) and has created amazing chainmail armors (one of the many lasting impressions of playing Dungeon and Dragons as a child)
i got started on Etsy a few years back because i got tired of hearing my friends telling me to 'share' my handmade goods with the world. i love creating things, be it a painting, a scarf or a pair of earrings, simply for the joy of creating. i feel guilty when i get paid for my art. i have been giving away my creations to friends and family all over the world, and now Etsy encourages me to create more, and has become a mean to cover my materials cost so i can venture out to creating new things. i am so inspired and humbled being surrounded by so much talent here on Etsy, and happy to see handmade goods are appreciated equally by a lot of folks out there.
