About

Bikiniboo from dream to reality...

I always dreamed of making a living doing something I love... in hindsight my passion of hot sunny days, the beach, having fun, a huge interest in fashion and a love of dabbling with customising clothing and trying new creative things on my sewing machine was always eventually going to bring me to the launch of Bikiniboo.

The idea was born in the Summer of 2012, following a few years without a relaxing holiday abroad and working hard in my sales job a break away was well overdue! So finally my partner & I decided to book flights to visit a friend in the Baleric Islands - the only problem was the holiday was less than 2 weeks away & I had nothing in the way of Summer clothing! My shopping expedition started well, picking up soom cool and adaptable pieces; kaftans, shorts, pretty dresses, but finding bikinis was another matter .... I just couldn't find anything in the shops that transformed me into the beach goddess that in my mind I pictured I was going to be!! (or anywhere close to that vision!!). By the end of the day I was racing around the shops like a crazed lunatic and left with a couple of bikinis, but nothing I completely loved.

In my eyes, the most important thing in any suitcase has to be the swimwear!! It matters... afterall that is the one thing that I spend 90% of my holidays wearing! Guys might not really ever understand this concept (I know my other half certainly didn't!) In desperation, on google images that night with the words 'cute bikini' in my search bar I gazed through all the images and that was when I had the 'lightbulb moment' If I couldn't find what I wanted in the shops I would have a go at making something! I had found a photo of a girl wearing a bow bikini and immediately knew that was the look I wanted!

The next day after a trip to the fabric shop I managed to run up a bow bikini top - it was basic - the bow was a little floppy, but it was the cutest blue floral fabric, it was quirky and unique and I loved it!! I teamed it with a blue bottom and that is the combo that I ended up wearing for most of my holiday! I had a few lovely compliments about it whilst I was away and when I got home friends said they liked it too, so I decided to research into how I could adapt and improve my basic design and the best shapes to flatter the female figure. After much trial and error the new improved versions included soft removeable cups to give more support and a better shape to the bust, a smaller, sturdier bow and removeable tie straps to give more versatility. I also wanted to give the option of both brief style and high waisted styles with the vintage look being so huge right now! After these tweaks I found that friends and friends of friends were actually putting orders in and paying me for them - Bikiniboo was finally born!!!

The bow bikini will always be the staple design of the range. I have a love for beautiful floral prints along with vibrant prints and bold block colours. There are exciting times ahead - my mind is always thinking up new ideas... and on the hunt for amazing prints....my trips to the beach are no longer as relaxing as they used to be - I am always on the lookout for inspiration in the styles and prints that women wear and the way they choose to wear them!

I am currently working on a new range of unique bikinis ready for the 2015 Summer Season - there are some amazing new styles in the making that I am sooooo excited about! And after an overwhelming response to my Bikinis I have enlisted the help of an amazing friend Lanie, who is a Goddess of the sewing machine & will be helping bring beautiful bikinis to the world!

My vision is to be as adaptable as possible - I welcome (& love!) custom requests... no matter what style or print you have in mind... however weird and wonderful you desire please drop me a message & we can talk about how I can turn your idea into a bikini that is going to make you feel like that goddess on the beach :)

Please take the time to browse through the Bikiniboo swimwear range. I hope the bikinis inspire and excite you as much as they do me :) In the short time I have been selling on Etsy I have been overwhelmed by the lovely messages and comments I have received and the amazing interractions I have had with fellow Etsy members! If you have any questions please do get in touch - I would love to hear from you!

Stay gorgeous
