Fun little kit with good instructions. There was an initial problem with the shipping, but the owner was very responsive and gave me an extra kit for the delay.

About

Taking the old and making it beautifully functional...one book at a time.

I have been a bibliophile and craftswoman my entire life. I do not remember a time when I was not making , reading or trying to sell something. I grew up on the mean streets of suburban Cincinnati, Ohio. I am the daughter of an accountant gone rogue. My father owned his own advertising business for over 25 years. My mother stayed at home with me and my two brothers until I was well into high school.

Take an accountant and a home economist and what you come up with is me, Becca Imbur. I was a quiet, shy child with loads of artistic energy that loved to herself in a good book. While both of my parents are creative people, they are not artists and therefore, had no idea what do with a kid like me. This did not stop them from being completely supportive of my talents. I am fairly sure I attended absolutely every art class that was possible in a 50 miles radius of where I grew up. And while I enjoyed the creative aspect of my life, I decided to leave art as a hobby as I pursued my degree in outdoor recreation studies from a small university in southeastern Ohio.

I spent over 10 years as a full time camp administrator for various non-profits located throughout the southeast US. Most of these locations were remote and secluded, which left us misfits with a lot of time on our hands. It was here that my love of art and crafting really started to show itself to me. Many nights were spent in one another's cabins or around a campfire engaging in some sort of creative endeavor.

One weekend, I met a woman that changed my life forever. She showed me a small 6 x 6" square journal that was overflowing with images, collages, photographs, and other fodder. I was speechless with desire to go home and immediately create something similar. It was then that I found art journaling and that is where I truly believe, my true artistic Self was born.

Since then, my primary art focus has been on book arts. I have made countless scrapbooks, wedding guestbooks, journals, sketchbooks, and padfolios for friends. When the economy crashed in 2008, I was let go from my position as Program Coordinator at a small conservatory in the Appalachian Mountains. I was finishing up my graduate degree in environmental education at the time. I had just gotten married and was settling into my new life when my husband suggested that I pursue my art as a way to generate some income while I decided what step to take next in my life.

And here is where Bimbur Books comes into the picture. I know now that my life's work is to make art and I truly believe that my art will change the world. My background in environmental education has shown me that I need to pursue my business with future generations in my mind. I try to reuse, reclaim, recycle and salvage most of the materials that I use in my books from thrift stores, antiques or dumpster diving. I am continually researching where and who I purchase my supplies from to make sure that I am being as responsible for the planet as I can and my budget allows.

Finally, in 2010, I gave birth to an amazing little creature, River Willow. She fills my days with smiles, pure joy and love. Your support allows me to continue to stay at home and raise my daughter in a creative home. Thank you for taking the time to read my little story. I look forward to fulfilling all of your book art needs.

Welcome to Bimbur Books!

I create one-of-a-kind books and journals. From everyday musings to capturing life's most magical moments, everyone deserves a beautiful record of their life.

I have a strong commitment to sustainability and my creative lifestyle reflects this philosophy. My books and artwork contain mainly reclaimed materials that I find while thrifting and antiquing. My book board is salvaged encyclopedia and other books that are destined for the landfill. I use the text paper from reclaimed books to add additional artistic touches to the inside of my books. The inside of my books are as lovely as the outside and I enjoy surprising people with these small details.

I am a stay-at-home mother who is using her talents and skills as a professional artist to create a small home-based business so that I can raise my daughter with my strong artistic and environmental values. It is important that my daughter sees her mother working hard to create the best life possible for our family.

Thank you supporting me, my family, my community and our Earth Mother with your purchase from Bimbur Books. I look forward to creating a unique book that will meet all your needs. Please feel free to contact me to discuss any aspect of your order, living the creative life, sustainable living, motherhood, business or just to say hello. I look forward to getting to know you!

In Creative Spirit,

Becca
