The BioactiveFX Difference
Welcome to BioactiveFX -- where hermit crabs (and other critters, too!) have nature brought back to them. We believe that creating a naturalistic, bioactive habitat benefits our crabs in a multitude of ways. In the bigger picture, it’s actually beneficial to us humans too! Once properly set up, crabitats can be a self-sustaining mini ecosystem…and we are here to help guide the way!
We’ve been actively keeping crabs for over a decade and make dedicated efforts to help the hermit crab community grow in terms of knowledge and researching better ways to care for our hermit friends. We actively support, sponsor, and donate to various causes that support spreading hermit crab awareness, advancing hermit crab husbandry, improving zoo/aquarium/wildlife center exhibits, research grants, and more.
All of our products are carefully researched, prepared, and/or sourced to ensure we are providing the highest quality available. Our food products are analyzed by a 3rd party lab and are formulated by an Animal Science and Nutrition degree holder -- we don’t just randomly mix things together. There are many aspects to consider when formulating a proper diet and we understand the science behind that!
We take sourcing seriously...so you don't have to! Fertilizers are commonly resold as crab food. With the exception of greensand*, none of our products are processed within the fertilizer supply chain. There are several issues with fertilizer products:
1. There are almost no rules or regulations on how they are processed, stored, and trasnported...since they were NEVER meant to be eaten! Fertilizers are commonly transported with known unsafe products such as: pesticides, herbicides, lawn/garden chemical based fertilizers, etc.
2. Most fertilizers have low nutritional value--fertilizer products are the waste by products..."all the good stuff" is usually long gone by the time it gets bagged for fertilizer.
3. Quality can vary greatly. Since fertilizers were never meant to be be consumed by any living being, quality and consistency are not of huge importance.
*Our greensand is sourced directly from the distributor, who transports ONLY greensand/glauconite.*
We believe in providing high-quality products, excellent customer service, and speedy shipping -- no need to wait 2-3 weeks for your order to be processed! Our bottom line is...if we wouldn’t give it to our own hermit crabs, we won’t let you either!
Although we are primarily focused on hermit crabs at this time, our products are excellent for other animals as well. You can rest assured that if it’s safe for our crabs, it’s safe for other critters too!
