About

From Lawyer to Fiber Artist

About 9 years ago, my sister-in-law reintroduced me to knitting, which I had tried as a child but quit soon after. As knitting quickly grew into my passion, I started weaving as well under the direction of Melissa Johnson, an incredible fiber artist. My children soon became overwhelmed with all my knitted gifts so they suggested I share my knitting through an Etsy shop.

What started as a hobby quickly grew into my profession. So now I knit and weave full time as well as produce costumes and props for Boston burlesque community and local cosplayers. I have a website that shows off my prop building, costume design, weaving and other interesting stuff. You can find that website at http://mamabones.weebly.com/index.html

I have three incredible children who encouraged me to open this store. My eldest is a producer and dancer in Salem. Her troupe, the Slaughterhouse Society, performs often in the Boston/Cambridge area. My son is a 19 year old drag queen who performs as Cherry Poppins in Western Mass . My youngest daughter hopes to be a veterinarian but for now concentrates on ballet, fashion and making scale mail jewelry. They are all models for many of my items.

I work out of my home, an 1889 Victorian that I love. I hope you enjoy looking around my shop and find something that is perfect for you. I love to develop patterns and custom designs, so please don't hesitate to contact me if you want something "different."

Although she's plenty busy running the Slaughterhouse Sweethearts, Boston's premier horror burlesque troupe, Fem still finds the time to help us by manning the merch table at select Boston events, shipping and modeling our gauntlets!

Cherry Poppins helps with gauntlet design from the male/drag perspective and is also the creator/designer of our dog hoodies - "Toasty Mutts"

  • Shuga Plum Cherry

A rescue from Mississippi, Shuga was the recipient of the very first Toasty Mutts hoodie. She enjoys sleeping, playing with her brother, Mac the Wonderpuppy, eating and getting her belly rubbed.

Frequently asked questions
Sizing details

Sizing for gauntlets is as follows:

Measure the circumference of your hand just below the knuckles. 6 1/2" - 7" is a small, 7" - 7 1/2" is a medium, 7 1/2"-8" is a large and 8"-9" is an extra large.

How durable is DragonSwag for larping?

I have made both gauntlets and full sleeve shrugs for several larpers. I have not had any complaints regarding durability so far.
