About BitchyChickenJournal

Sales 20
On Etsy since 2017

Where does Bitchy Chicken come from?

The concept started back in 2014 when I and Igen talked about meeting in person after months of being engaged in a long distance relationship. Because we didn't want to be like "Oh, okay, we finally meet," we joked of wearing chicken mascot wearing thongs in the airport. *laughs* Yes, that's how the brand name "Bitchy Chicken" began.

Before this became a shop, I suffered a lot after having chronic depression in the past few years. This worsened when nobody hired me after graduation because I was overqualified for them and got fired from a series of jobs in the past few years.

Plus, I have a serious authority problems which always got me into trouble whenever I work. So, this were also the reasons why I realized that I have to start my own business and this is where Bitchy Chicken Shop was born.

Things aside, the brand might sound crazy but it means we, as a couple, create the impossible or the unimaginable stuff in mind. Part of it is Bitchy Chicken Journal where I and my sister, Hann, paints every canvas cover for our own version of Midori traveler's notebooks aka fauxdoris. And Igen takes care of the layout stuff.

Frequently asked questions
Payment Methods

We only accept PayPal as a mode of payment of every transaction. You can refer to Etsy Payments for more information.

Sizing details

We have already specified the sizes and their respective numerical equivalent in each listing. Hence, we're not responsible if the item didn't match your expectation whether they're too big or too small for your notebooks.

To avoid this, contact us and tell us the size of your notebooks, so we can make covers and refill notebooks apt for your needs.

Shipping

We ship via German Post with tracking code to both local and international shipping (worth 10 Euro) to ensure it will arrive sooner and safer than standard "no tracking code" shipping.

Gift wrapping and packaging

For shipping both local and international items, we place each travelers notebook inside a package with stuffing inside to ensure there will be no damages upon shipment.

Where do you get inspiration from your hand painted canvas fauxdori covers?

We usually get inspiration from the surroundings around us and with our crazy and imaginative heads. I and my sister combine our ideas into one piece of art and each of us express this in our brush strokes in the canvas.

We also wanted to make each fauxdori, Midori traveler's notebook, notebooks in general, as unique as possible. Thus, making a unique piece - THE ONLY PIECE - happens a lot.

Where do you make your notebooks?

We only make them at home. So, we didn't have any work space or a physical shop to display our items. We use the dining table as our work space and the whole living room as the production area. *winks*

We need 1-2 days for the painting and drying of the paint as well as cutting, sizing the covers and another day or two for sewing. All in all, we needed 2-3 days for one item.

The same thing for the Coptic Notebooks. Depending on the design we make.

For our leather notebooks, I need 3-5 days of sewing time and finishing the entire cover. This is because I AM THE ONLY ONE who makes all the orders. Please bear with me. You know, I am not Naruto. I can't do Kage Bunshin no Jutsu Technique. :)

Wholesale availability

Unfortunately, we can't accommodate wholesale orders for our products. Because I can't handle huge quantities of orders.

What paper do you use for your notebooks?

It depends. We include that in our listing description. Usually, we use at least 80 gsm white paper, 150 gsm Bristol paper, or 200 gsm Canson Watercolor paper.

Custom and personalized orders

Bitchy Chicken Journal accepts custom and personalized orders for both recycled fabrics and leathers and even in the hand painted canvas covers for the fauxdories, Midori traveler's notebook, specifically in the sizing and the refill notebooks you want to have either lined, grid, dotted, or blank.
