Lovely creamy feel without being too greasy! I wish the flavoring on this one was a tad stronger.

Black Bear Laboratory

When I wanted to start selling stuff, I couldn't think of a name. So I thought about how hilarious it would be if black bears in general were scientists. Thus, Black Bear Laboratory.

I make lip balm in batches of approximately 20-30 tubes. The color of the top has really no relation to anything other than when I make it and what flavors they are.

Group 1: Silver tops, made September 20. Pumpkin Chai Tea, Lemon-Mango Lassi Cheesecake, Chocolate Marshmallow, Cheesecake Stuffed French Toast

Group 2: Blue tops, made week of October 16: Pumpkin Cheesecake, Watermelon Sangria, more Pumpkin Chai Tea

Now I also have wax tarts! These are made from a blend of soy and paraffin waxes formulated just for tarts. Each scent is made in a batch of 16, and may not necessarily make another appearance in the shop! So if you see something you like, hop on it!

I'm a college student/soon to be sales associate of tea and I also make lip balm. I like stuff that smells good, and I like bears.

Payment is obviously due upon order. You may cancel an order any time before I let you know your order is shipping. Be sure to let me know via a convo on here or an email.
If you are ordering 12 or more wax tarts, please also let me know so I can give you an accurate shipping cost. At that weight it will likely require priority mail and the cost must be updated properly.

Prices do not include insurance or delivery confirmation. If either of these are important to you, please let me know and I will add the cost to a custom order for you.

Are you a local or a nearby friend? Please send me a message as we can either work it out off etsy, or I can give you a code for "free shipping" in order to pick up your items in person.
Refunds and Exchanges
If an item arrives damaged, please let me know and I will work to replace it. If it's just an issue of melting, please try putting the lip balm in the fridge or freezer for a little time. This goes for not only shipping but if you keep it in a hot place and it happens...try not to do that, it melts easily so it can go on your lips easily!
Additional policies and FAQs
The use of ~natural~ with cosmetics. I've seen some weird arguments natural stuff can cause you to have an allergic reaction if you're allergic to plants...what? I'm allergic to 11 plants, and generally if people have allergies like that, they have been allergy tested or at least know specifically what bothers them (which is how I know I'm allergic to 11 plants).

Why certain ingredients?
Candelilla wax - I'm not vegan but I love bees and everything they do. So I'm not a fan of beeswax. You won't even notice a difference in how this lip balm feels.
Coconut oil - My favorite oil in the world. It feels so good on the skin and it's just all around awesome.
Castor oil - This adds some shine!
Apricot Kernel oil - This one is also good for your skin, so why not use it?
Shea and cocoa butter - Like everything else, they're great for moisturizing and add a nice richness.
Vitamin E oil - this is just a supplement because Vitamin E is a natural preservative, and it's also good for you (it's a vitamin after all!). It's of course made out of oils like soybean, wheat germ and corn, but only a few drops go into each batch of lip balm. If you are absolutely, positively allergic to wheat, corn, or soy even coming in contact with your skin, and want to order some lip balm, please send me a custom order and I'll leave this oil out (see below for more on custom orders). Just please note that your lip balm should be used up within about 8-12 months and has the possibility not to make it that long.
Stevia - Flavors in lip balm pop with a sweetener. I use stevia that has been infused in coconut oil rather than any artificial sweeteners.
Flavor - this is the approved little name for flavoring oils. As far as I know everything is vegan. I'm not sure how you would make a non-vegan oil but weirder things have happened.

Please note these lip balms DO NOT provide SPF protection but are meant solely to moisturize.

The lip balms also work great as a quick alternative to a cuticle cream or hand lotion if you have nothing else on you. They won't have the staying power scent of a fragrance, but it'll feel nice!

Want a custom order?
If you'd like a custom flavor, there will be a minimum order of at least 12. Additionally I can tint your lip balm green or pink (the pink contains carmine though, so vegan/vegetarians may not want that one) if you'd like that! Send me a message so we can discuss all options I have.

Wax tarts - these are made from a blend of paraffin and soy waxes specially formulated for wax tarts. They hold the scents beautifully and color quite well.

Want a custom order? Eight tarts is the minimum for a custom fragrance. Please let me know what you have in mind and what color you are looking for and we'll see what we can do from there!

Have a suggestion for a flavor or scent? Shoot it my way and I'll see what I can do!
