My name is Anna-Karin Hallström and I’m the designer/creator behind Black Daisy Designs. I strive to create amazing everyday jewellery for the woman who enjoys handmade goods. I have no interest in creating pieces that look like a machine made them, none at all, and all my pieces are handmade by me, in my studio on the top floor, using sterling silver, copper, brass and gemstones.

Being Swedish, I’m drawn to the Scandinavian style. I prefer bright, clean, straight, contemporary lines to intricate and extravagant. But, as it turned out, I’m also a bit of a bohemian so intricate and extravagant is still a part of who I am.

• modern •
Shiny polished silver with fun details for the modern woman.

What is modern? In the 20s flapper dresses were modern, today skinny jeans. What’s modern tomorrow? Being modern to me is about knowing the world YOU live in. What’s modern to you? I’m Swedish so I bring Scandinavian design history with me into this and looking back it’s quite obvious that for centuries Scandinavian design has been built on a solid fundament of bright, clean lines, keeping intricate and extravagant to a minimum.

And I’m building on that fundament too.

• simple •
Simple lines and shapes for easy, comfortable and stylish everyday wear.

Simple, is everything for me. Everything. Life should be simple and to me that means the things we choose to bring into our lives should be simple too. Don’t overdo things, don’t complicate things, keep them simple. My adjustable ring bands are such things – a very very simple design but oh so comfortable to wear.

And jewellery should be just that - simple - comfortable to wear and easy to match with everything else in your wardrobe. And they should be simple to give as a gift.

• rustic •
Cracked edges, tool marks left untouched, oxidised and a bit worn looking.

I mentioned I’m a bohemian and that expresses itself with a rustic design element in some of my pieces. Stamped letters and symbols will never be in a perfect line and you will find cracked edges and tool marks left untouched. I’m proud of those marks. They are, like the laughing wrinkles that start to show around my eyes, evidence of life. Evidence of a real person, me, creating this piece of jewellery for you.

I pride myself on excellent customer service and if you have any questions what so ever, please don't hesitate to contact me.

YOU, are always welcome.

I'm loud and I laugh a lot. I'm stubborn but I'm kind. I'm a Scandinavian bohemian and I build things with silver and fire.

Refunds and Exchanges
I want you to be thrilled and overjoyed with your purchase. Should you for any reason not be, please contact me within 48 hours of recieving the item and we will talk.

Jewellery should be worn and loved by its owner. And I would rather see that you send the jewellery back to me, than not be happy with it and never wear it. I will issue a refund, minus shipping charges.

Please note - sale items and custom designs (made-to-order designs are not custom) are non-refundable. These are always final.

International shipping can sometimes take forever... or so it feels. If you are worried about a lost package, please contact me and we will find a solution.

If you receive a damaged package, please make sure to take photos of the package prior to opening it. Also make sure to document any damages on jewelry and gift wrapping and then contact me.
Additional policies and FAQs
Typically a custom order will start with a number of emails or convos between us to decide on design and material. Once we've reached a desicion, I will set up a custom order listing with a charge of 200Sek (approx. $30-$40 depending on currency exchange rate) as a non-refundable deposit and with the balance due upon completion.

The deposit must be paid in full before I start any work on the order and should you change your mind after the deposit is paid, it will be forfeited.

To measure for a bangle bracelet stretch your fingers out straight and squeeze your thumb flat against your hand TIGHT. (The way you would put on a bangle) Now, using a piece of non stretchy string or ribbon, measure the circumference of the widest part of your hand. The average size is between 7-8 inches.

Take a thin strip of paper in the width of the desired ring and wrap it around your finger snugly (not too tight or too loose) and mark where the end comes around. Lay the strip down on a ruler and measure.

There is a difference between a thin band and a wide band gauge measurement. For example: If you measure a size 8 in a thin band you will probably be an 8 1/2 for a 3/8" wide band ring

♥ FAQ about my adjustable ring shanks.
~ Is the ring shank flimsy?
No, absolutely not. This is a design I’ve been using for a few years now and that I personally prefer in my own rings and I can guarantee the quality. They are made from 14ga (1,6 mm) sterling silver that I hammer with a mallet to shape. After I’ve soldered the shank on to the setting I give it a few good whacks with the mallet again to regain its shape and strength again.

~ Will it stay the size I want?
Yes it will. It’ll stay in your desired size until you change it. Sometimes you will get caught in clothes and furniture and what-not, especially with bigger rings, and the shank will in those cases, if the strength is enough, give and open up. Should this happen, just push the ring back to the size you desire. Besides – it’s better the ring gives, than your finger as I see it.

~ How many sizes can the ring adjust to?
It depends a bit on the shape of the settings - some rings can only adjust to about 2-2½ sizes - whereas other rings can adjust up to 4 sizes. Please convo me if you have any questions.

~ But why an adjustable ring shank?
Well, if your fingers are anything like mine, they don’t stay exactly the same size the whole day depending on temperature and other parameters. I find it extremely satisfying to know that I can adjust my ring size during the day and that I’ll be able to wear a very comfortable ring no matter what.

I often (but not always) put a coat of Renassaince Wax on all copper and brass items but you should know this.

Copper and brass can turn your fingers green but it is completely harmless and can be washed off with soapy water. Not everyone will react this way though, it depends on a person’s metabolism. The same bracelet which remains shiny for one person will turn another person's wrist green or may acquire multicoloured patinas on another.

If you are concerned or really don’t like the green, a simple coat of clean nail polish applied every few months to the inside will do the trick!
