Handmade and vintage is my passion

Hello and thanks for stopping by! A little about myself: I'm a 30-something married mom of my beautiful shop model, Callahan, and my first baby, Cheech the long haired chihuahua. I was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL and moved to Michigan to be with my boyfriend-turned-husband back in 2011. It was a tough transition, being 1,800 miles away from everything I had ever known on top of being a new wife and 5 months later, a new mom! (Not to mention the climate change!) I had a lot of down time when I was pregnant, so I really started crocheting A LOT! I like making beanies the most and living in such a cold place, you can never have too many. Our first Christmas together, my hubs asked what I wanted. I told him I had always wanted a sewing machine. Well, I got it, but I was so intimidated by it that it sat for almost a whole YEAR before I broke that bad boy out and taught myself how to use it. And so began my love affair with sewing and fabric...

A few passions of mine: sewing, crochet, coffee, my family and friends, my dog, rock n roll, sunshine, blue skies, boots and platform shoes, jeans, vintage and hand-screen printed graphic t-shirts, vintage quilts, fabric, yarn, traveling, live music, Hispanic food, my grandmas cooking, the smell of the ocean... I could go on and on.... I am a new member of the CGOA (Crochet Guild Of America) and I'm so excited to see what unfolds for me now that I belong to this wonderful group of like-minded crocheters and designers!

My ol' man is a union tool and die maker (who recently received his journeyman degree) and he works a minimum of 60 hours a week (his commute is 90 miles 1 way to work!). I am the newest member of the Mary Maxim family which is a fourth generation family-owned yarn and needlecraft business & there's nothing I'd rather do than be surrounded by yarn and talk knit and crochet all day! My daughter and I volunteer at our local humane society because we share a love of all animals, no matter how big or small. I ALWAYS root for the underdog. I do not tolerate unfairness or unkindness at any degree. As an INFJ personality type, I am complex, intense, and I can at times be a perfectionist. I am also caring, empathetic, compassionate and creative. This shop is not so much to make money (which would be WONDERFUL!), but more of an artistic and creative outlet for myself.

So-my family definitely understands the value of a dollar and any purchase from my tiny shop, no matter how big or small, is so greatly appreciated! I am ALWAYS open to new or custom ideas, and if I feel like I can not do the job, I know many different artists and creators that I can point you in the direction of.
