When a weekend project became a business...

Have you ever said to yourself, "I can just make this myself." Well that one phrase seems to be my basic motto for everything I create. I am completely drawn to the challenge of creating something new... all the time. From painting to sewing, graphic design to jewelry, and everything in between.

I always knew I wanted to own my own business and that it would be circled around my passionate love for art.

Blackbird Soap Company was created in 2009 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. If you have ever lived or visited, you probably know how health conscious and Eco friendly everyone is here. It's contagious and becomes a big part of your everyday life! Well in this world of countless artificial junk I found myself being more aware of the things my family and I ate and used. During a trip to a farmers market I discovered the beautiful art of soap making. So of course that basic motto I am driven by went screaming in my head! What started as a curious weekend project turned into the business I love and own today.

I strive to be a cut above other soap businesses with my unique style and creativity. We're not just another hippie made bar of soap. We're a place where skin pampering fun and creativity come together for you to experience. My slogan is: "Homemade natural soaps and body products...with a BIZARRE twist." Each product is creatively named with it's own unique story to describe each scent.

Feel confident in your purchase! Our ingredients are listed on all of our products and are easy to read with no fancy wording to complicate it.

Have any questions, concerns, or requests? Please don't hesitate to ask! I'd love to hear from you! You can almost always find me lurking around. LOL!

Take Care & Enjoy! ♥

I can't remember a time when I wasn't passionate about art. No matter the medium, I love it all. I consider myself a wandering artist and go where the creativity takes me. I am most inspired by my family, nature, history, tales, and the odd & eerie.

Welcome! I am a small home based business where all my products are completely handmade. My soaps and products are made from scratch using only 100% natural oils and ingredients. All products with added fragrances used are phthalate-free.

After finding a passion for soapmaking and the desire to pamper your skin in a more natural way, Blackbird Soap Company shrives to research the latest information about natural oils, butters, botanicals and high-quality essential oils in the drive to bring you only the best quality in body, skin and lip care.

Located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, I will always label your products with all the ingredients used in all the products you're purchasing, allowing you to have a peace of mind in what you put on your body.

My homemade natural soaps have a creative twist giving your body products a fun and bizarre character. My products make fantastic gifts with a great presentation!

All of Blackbird Soap's bars are made through a cold- process designed to keep your soaps high in glycerin.

Lastly I am very green. I strive for using containers made from recycled plastics, I recycle packaging supplies, and all our containers are 100% recyclable! My tissue wrapping and gift packaging are also made from 100% recycled materials! Whenever possible I purchase locally and organically. Also buying handmade bar soap over commercial gel means less soap wasted at once and less plastic bottles being used. So please help continue to keep it green by recycling your used products.

Additional policies and FAQs
Yes, This is a lot to read but I believe in being very descriptive and not leaving anything out! The more you know the better you can be satisfied with your purchase

SOAPS: Our soaps are handmade from scratch (not melt n pour) and contain many amazing properties that commercial soaps don't. But with that said they won't last as long. It is suggested that soap be used within approximately a year. To encourage the longest soap life it's best to keep them away from water when not being used. Placing soaps on a wooden soap dish can also help keep your soap hard and dryer.

SUGAR POLISH: These should be kept in a cool dry place. If left in sun or direct heat it is possible that it can start to separate. When using it's best always use a clean and dry spoon to scoop out desired amount each use. Avoid getting "unused" sugars wet. Although I use a mild preservative in my scrubs, water and dirty hands may shortening the life of your scrub. Use within 6 mo. -1 year.

LIP BALM AND GLOSS: Keep out of sun or direct heat for any prolonged amounts of time as this can cause melting and possible leaking. We recommend using these products within a year from purchase date.

LOTIONS & CREAMS: It's best to always store in a cool place out of direct heat. Although most of my lotions and creams require a very mild preservative (anything with water must have a preservative to properly protect against harmful bacteria), I still recommend always using a clean dry spoon or clean hands to remove desired amount each use. Keep away from water and again, we recommend using within approximately 6mo. - 1 year.

DISCLAIMER: Variety in Products:

I will always do my VERY best to keep my recipes as close to the last made batch (unless improved) as possible. But with that said, I cannot guarantee that your soap bar/product will be COMPLETELY the same as the last. It is, after all, homemade. Colors, textures, and scents may slightly vary from batch to batch. I will always include an ingredient list and description of each product. Please read carefully before purchasing and be aware of any ingredients ahead of time that may cause allergic reactions.

ALLERGIES: CAUTION: If you have any allergies, please make sure to read all the ingredients used in each product. Some oils are derived from nuts and should be avoided by those with severe nut allergies. If you are pregnant or nursing use with caution and consult with a doctor if unsure about certain ingredients (such as peppermint oil). The same should be considered if you are concerned with infants and young children (eucalyptus & wintergreen are some oils you should avoid with young children). If you are unsure about any product, please contact your health care provider for more information. If a rash or irritation occurs, DISCONTINUE USE IMMEDIATELY. (If you are allergic to a certain essential oil and are concerned about it being in your soap or about anything, please don’t hesitate to ask me. I’d be happy to share my fragrance blends when requested.) I make no medical or therapeutic claims about my products. My products are all natural and as a result they will expire more quickly than commercial products. If any of your products begin to smell bad, expire, or begin to show growth, discard immediately! I have never had my products go bad before the dates I've stated but I feel I should state this. Information on the qualities of certain oils and other ingredients are based upon information obtained from suppliers, industry data, and from other experienced and knowledgeable soap crafters. Again if you have any questions about a particular product or ingredient, feel free to contact me and I'll be happy to explain.
