BlackEyeLAB – A Shutter Between Worlds
BlackEyeLAB was born from a shared love of film photography, a quiet fascination with light, time, and the stillness that exists in a single frame.
Most of the photographs in our shop were taken during a long, winding journey around 2010—when travel felt like discovery, and every click of the shutter was a way of saying yes to the world. Some prints come from the Alps, captured through the lens of John Green, my father-in-law and kindred spirit in this craft. While I gravitate toward vintage urban scenes and fleeting moments in transit, John’s eye rests gently on nature—on butterflies hovering over wildflowers, on the soft light falling across a mountain ridge.
What ties us together is the act of seeing. The photographer’s eye—always searching, waiting, knowing. There’s a stillness right before the shutter closes, as if the entire world is holding its breath. We live for that moment.
At BlackEyeLAB, we believe film doesn’t just capture what we saw—it reveals what we felt. There’s a grain, a softness, a sense of time embedded in every frame. Through these prints, we hope to share not just images, but windows—small, quiet portals into other times, other places.
