Announcement   Horseshoe Wedding & Anniversary gifts, hearts. Traditional: 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 - iron, steel, copper, bronze). ENGRAVING optional **4 WEEKS CREATION TIME* Need faster = Plan "B" = picture to wrap up, or to create your certificate (more info below).

BlacksmithCreations specializes in creating unique, custom horseshoe art keepsakes, which are carefully crafted to celebrate events of life, both personal and professional. Let's co-create something together to tell your story.

***ENGRAVING may include names, dates, coordinates (longitude/latitude), hashtags, or logos. Ask and we'll try hard to make it happen. Some hand stamping is limited to 7 characters, and our engraving WILL ACCOMMODATE so many more characters on your piece because fonts are flexible :-)
If you have a longer name, then engraving is for YOU! Engraving can be names, dates, places, longitude /latitude, GPS coordinates, Twitter hashtags, or logos. RECOMMENDATION: ALL CAPITAL LETTERS works best for names, for legibility and clarity. Ask any question we'll try hard to make it happen.

IF YOU DON'T SEE WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR, JUST ASK. We are a custom shop, and welcome your ideas (for new products, engraving ideas, multiple item discounts (>5), or a new variation of something we have listed).

What sets our work apart from other horseshoe artists is Steve's distinctive style, coupled with his attention to detail (clean lines, proportioned & balanced, no ugly welds). His skills have been fine-tuned over 35+ yrs of blacksmithing & metal working. If Steve isn't happy with his work for you, he doesn't let it out of his shoppe. If you're not happy with the result, we'll correct it to your satisfaction.

Please indicate how you'd like the engraving to look, using all capital letters, and the dots, dashes or slashes for the date. We recommend all capital letters if you have an e,a, or o in the name. These letters can look like little blobs with the tight curves of small case letters when it's engraved.
To request your personalization for an order, you'll find the comments box that appears towards the end of the checkout process.

We use only authentic, new, clean horseshoes made in America, from St. Croix (MN) horseshoe manufacturers.
Horseshoes are made from iron. Iron is mixed with certain other metals and with carbon to form steel, to create horseshoes. That's why they are perfect for traditional anniversary gifts of iron and steel. NEW means no icky manure or dirt in creases of the shoe, that you might find in used shoes. No cast iron knockoffs or replicas here....
***NOTE: Even new horseshoes are inherently rough and some of that rustic-ness remains in each piece. They may look like slight imperfections, because it's the nature of the material ... differences add character and originality to each unique piece. There will be slight variations in size, shape, or color from what you might see in the pictures, as each is handmade to order, by Steve.

YOUR USED HORSESHOES. Let's talk if you'd like something created from a set of shoes that your horse has worn. They create a sentimental remembrance. You'll find a contact button on our front page:

ONE LAST FEEDBACK. We always try, whenever possible.....
"This was a great choice for the iron anniversary gift! Blacksmith Creations was extraordinarily thoughtful in its communication with me given the fact that I placed my order one week prior to my anniversary and would not be able to receive the gift by that date (which was MY fault for procrastinating). They were able to e-mail me a photo of the completed gift for my wife's card and rushed its delivery so that I had it a few days after the fact. I couldn't have been more pleased with the concern and care they conveyed!"

About

Steve helps you celebrate life's special moments with his special blend of art, science, craft, passion & love of metalworking.

BlacksmithCreations is a husband and wife business providing unique, delightful, & functional horseshoe giftware, carefully crafted to celebrate events of life, both personal and professional. Let's co-create something together to tell your story. If you don't see what you are looking for, PLEASE ASK. We are a custom shop and welcome your ideas. We are honored to create something that will be appreciated by you.

WHEN IT MATTERS, choose a personalized, well-made gift to become a memorable keepsake. Steve's handmade creations are worthy as a gift to a bride & groom, or as an anniversary present to honor your partner.

Attention to detail is the key..... notice the sizing, spacing, proportions, clean welds, and placement of the crevices on each horseshoe piece. Welding blobs are filed away, horseshoes are sanded, joints are perfectly matched, letters are proportioned, even the inside of the shoes are finished. They are all well thought out, to make a beautiful keepsake to give or keep.
In the end, it's the heartwarming experiences for others that Steve loves to create at the forge.

If Steve isn't happy with his work for you, he doesn't let it out of his shoppe. He is the only craftsman here, so he maintains quality control of his products. If you're not happy, we'll correct it. Period.

In 2014, we realized that hand stamping names & dates have limitations of only 9-10 characters. We partnered with professional engravers, which allows you to have longer names, dates, and sentiments, along with an upscaled product.

His work results from the art, science, and craft of metalworking, which has been forged (pardon the pun) over thirty years, and results in the artwork you see in our shoppe.
Steve creates & fabricates his unique products from new American-made steel horseshoes from crisp, clean shoes (read: NO icky manure in creases of horseshoes). Horseshoes are made from the element of iron & mixed with other metals become steel, or perfect or 6th or 11th anniversaries.

He loves to learn new techniques and refining methods working with metal. Check back often for new products for your wedding, anniversary, or for a gift for you friends. If you'd like something that you don't see, ask! We are a custom shop.

We've participated in hundreds of weddings with cake toppers and table decorations, from the UK to Australia & all around the US: California, Alaska, Texas, Kentucky, to Florida. All 50 states!

Steve developed his craftsmanship, talents, and skills from his 3+ decades experience as a metalworker and problem solver for a robust community college in CA. His skills are based on the foundation of hard work, with attention to details that were instilled in him by his Italian grandfather and great uncle, Nono Joe and Uncle Tulio.

When we started on Etsy, our original product was an extremely sturdy stand for campfire and backyard fire pit cooking (which we still proudly make). After only 6 months here, Etsy approached us & asked if we were interested in providing a sample campfire trivet for a Sunset Magazine photo shoot. Our campfire stand was in their holiday issue, "Made in the West" Sunset article (Dec. 2011, pg. 20). We are grateful to both Etsy and Sunset Magazine for recognizing our work! We are now in our 5th year here.

Steve is a member of ABANA (American Blacksmith Assoc. of North America) and CBA (California Blacksmith Association). Both are active & growing organizations that further the craft of metal. He attends CBA Hammer-In demonstrations to continue to improve his techniques & develop new ideas to share with you. He's planning to go to the National Blacksmith Assoc. Education Convention in Salt Lake City in July 13-16 2016. Never stop learning is his motto!

If he had more time, he would volunteer at the Empire Mine State Park in Grass Valley, CA. It was one of the largest, deepest, longest operating and richest hard rock gold mines around - producing nearly six million ounces of gold. They have a great blacksmith shop there, which supported the miners back in the day. When you are in the area, consider visiting Empire Mine State Park in Grass Valley, CA!

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalized orders

Our shoppe is primarily custom & personalized orders. Time to create approx. 3-4 weeks ... sometimes longer during the heart of wedding / anniversary season. If you need it faster, we try our best to accommodate. Ask please.

Our "Plan B" helps!. At your request, we email an un-engraved photo of your item, which you print it & include in your card.
You can get creative with this too...
+ Import the picture into Photoshop or Powerpoint to create your custom certificate, with personal sentiments.
+ Wrap the picture in a box to provide the gift giving experience!

***Plan B comments*
1- "You made me look good!"
2-"I gave Mark & Julie their present virtually yesterday on their anniversary..they loved it!!"

Sizing details

Use only NEW horseshoes so they are clear, crisp, and look great. No icky manure in the creases! Size about 5.5 tall & 5.125" wide, made in America. Can vary slightly. Weighs about 11 oz. Size of area to engrave at the bottom of the shoe is 1.5 - 1.75 inches long.

Hint: For engraving, keep the # of characters to a minimum, to allow for the largest font in this space. AND all capital letters for names is best for legibility and clarity.

Care instructions

New horseshoes are rough from the casting process & some of that rustic-ness remains in each piece. Horseshoes will have slight imperfections.

MAINTAIN THE FINISH. Finger prints are inevitable & can be buffed away with a soft dry rag, like a thick-pile micro-fibre cloth. Do not use an abrasive if you are cleaning. If you want to refinish it, then an abrasive would be appropriate.
To maintain the finish you can use neutral paste wax to resist rust. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Gift wrapping and packaging

We do not gift wrap unless asked, because most people want to see their order before they gift it. If you'd like gift wrapping, there is a nominal charge of $5.00.

We will ship directly to your recipient and happy to send you a picture before we ship, so you can approve it. (I would want that option if I was buying something custom made!)

At your request, we will add a note with your sentiments, at no extra charge. Include what you'd like to say and from whom (family members?) in the comments section of your order, or with an email to us through Etsy.

We ship via USPS Priority Mail which is 3 business day delivery to your mailbox in most areas in the US. We ship internationally, via airmail.

Why should I buy from you?

Quality and attention to detail is key..... notice the sizing, spacing, proportions, clean welds, & placement of the creases on each horseshoe piece. Welding blobs are filed away, horseshoes are sanded, joints are perfectly matched, letters are proportioned, even the inside of the shoes are finished. They are all well thought out, which makes a beautiful keepsake to give or keep.

Hand stamping is limited to l9-11 characters. We partnered with professional engravers, which allows longer names, dates, and sentiments.

If Steve isn't happy with his work for you, he doesn't let it out of his shoppe. He is the only craftsman here, so he maintains quality control of his products. If you're not happy, we'll correct it. Period.

We love co-creating with you!
