Art Was Always My Start

There's probably not ever been a time when I haven't been involved in the creation of art. From my earliest start in drawing the Pink Panther and other comic strips from the newspaper to entering every art contest that happened in school. I loved art. and was always watching television shows and picking up new ideas and techniques.

My introduction into the world of photography was by accident. While enrolled in a high school journalism class, my teacher asked if I would be interested in being the photographer for the school newspaper and yearbook. Before then, I recall an episode of "Diff'rent Strokes" that involved Arnold developing photographs in a room with the red safe-light on. From that memory and the urging of Mrs. Lynch, my fascination with photographs suddenly began.

In 1997, I earned a degree in Art Education from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia and worked as an Art Teacher for three years until I earned my Masters Degree in Student Affairs. I fell into art education after having an instructor compliment on my drawing skills and he mentioned that I could easily become an illustrator. I remember promptly changing majors - from Journalism to Art Education (because you know.. I didn't want to be a starving artist!).

In recent years, I began to develop my artistic skills, indulging in fine art photography as well as other art forms such as drawing, painting, crafts, jewelry making and book making.

Currently I work as a university administrator,

Being a former art teacher has its perks. One of which means I thrive on creativity. I'm always creating something and thought it was time to share my creations with the world.
