I LOVE my print! Emma was fantastic to work with and she was very patient with me and all my changes. She was extremely responsive and updated me every step of the way. It's quite an impressive piece and I'm getting a ton of compliments on it!!! Shipping was also a breeze. My print came packaged very well, which impressed me.

Portraits of your Little Ones

Hi there!

Welcome to my Etsy store.

I started doing children's portraits around 5 years ago when a friend told me he'd been doing stenciled artworks of famous singers and selling them on Ebay. The whole idea sounded fun (and yes, a bit wacky) and I thought it sounded like an interesting thing to try. At the time I had no idea what stenciling was, but I went online, read a few tutorials and started playing around with spray-paints in the garage.

My brother then asked if I could do a portrait of our nephew as a stencil, and my Etsy store was born! I started off doing hand-writing stencils and portraits, and one of my stencil tutorials was featured on Etsy's "How-to Tuesday". Here´s the link if you´d like to see it -

A few years ago I moved to a new house where I didn't have a garage and was unable to spray-paint my portraits. So now I design the portraits as usual -- on my laptop (using my trusty Wacom pen and tablet!) -- and then send the design off for printing and shipping with a US-based printer. In some ways this is better for my customers, because the portraits now arrive already stretched and ready to hang on a wall.

I absolutely love doing these portraits and thought I would share a couple of stories of the favorite ones I have worked on.

I think my most moving moment as an artist was doing a portrait for a mother whose son had died. As we sent emails back and forward, we talked about his facial features - his broad smile and curly hair - so that I could be sure I'd portrayed them accurately. When I asked her what colors she'd like the portrait to be she told me what her son's favorite colors had been, and I sent her some drafts of the portrait in those color combinations.

In one email the mother said how special it was to be spending this time discussing her son's features, his personality, and talking about his favorite colors. She said that she never had the chance to do this anymore (because her son had died some years before) and that it meant a lot to her. I was really moved by her comments, and they made me realise that the process of doing a portrait can be as valuable to a client as the end result.

My other favorite portrait was for a father who was a US soldier stationed in Afghanistan. He wanted a portrait of his family to give to them as a suprise Christmas present.

I sent him some drafts with the portrait in different colors and he wrote back to say that he and his army buddies had spent a long time sitting around his computer discussing which precise shade of pink would be better on his daughter's t-shirt! It was a lot of fun to do this portrait and later to hear back from the father about how thrilled his family was with their surprise gift.

So, as you can probably tell from these stories: I love doing portraits! It is wonderful to be able to be involved in creating an artwork that may be hung on a wall for generations. If you have any questions about getting a child's portrait done please don't hesitate to message me.

I have a degree in classical music, but have dabbled in the fine-arts for years. I started doing stenciled portraits 5 years ago, after a friend suggested I might like this unusual artform.

Should a refund be warranted, you will be refunded the purchase price, and original shipping costs. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer.

I haven't had any problems in this regard as I send lots of drafts of portraits and other items I make so you can be assured of getting the product you want!

I prefer payment by Paypal, although I'm happy to accept money orders and bank transfers within Australia.

If you're new to Paypal, you can go to for information on how it works and how to get started.

I am more than happy to set up part-payment listings for people who'd like a portrait or custom artwork made and want to pay it off in stages. Please just contact me to enquire about this. (Normally I ask for payments of $50 at a time.)
My children's portraits are printed in a variety of countries - the US, Canada, Australia or the UK. I'll print them wherever is closest to where you live and they will be sent by postal services (for example UPS) within that country.

My handwriting stenciled artworks and Mini Da Vinci's are sent via Australia Post national and international services which takes 2-7 business days within Australia. Items take from 7 days to 15 days to reach Europe and the United States. Insurance is optional for items - paid by the purchaser.

All items are packaged carefully to ensure the safest delivery possible to you. Where possible I like to re-use packaging items - for environmental reasons.

Please let me know if you wish to purchase tracking/insurance.

I am not responsible for any duties or customs fees on International Orders (although it is extremely unlikely there would be any fees on any items I send).
Additional policies and FAQs
My process is usually to look through the photos you e-mail to me and, in consultation with you, decide on the 3 that I think would work the best in my style of portraiture. I then do rough drafts of these 3 and you can choose from these. This is done obligation free.

I'm happy to look at as many photos as you like to make sure we get the one that is really striking and works the best. I find that this part of the process (getting the best photo) is the one that is the most crucial to getting a great portrait.

If you decide to go ahead with one of the three rough designs I ask for a deposit and then finish your portrait design. As I work on the design I'll send you drafts and offer options around layout and color. I usually send 4 or 5 drafts as I go along, just checking that I've got all the facial details correctly.

Once I you sign-off on the final draft I get full-payment for the portrait. Then, the portrait is printed and shipped to you.

Because I work primarily doing children’s portraits I’ve developed a privacy policy around the use of child’s photos.

The photos you send to me will only be used to develop a portrait. I will never e-mail, upload, or in any others ways disseminate photos without parental permission.

(I do use some children’s photos in my sample listings and in my blog, to show the original photo a portrait was made from – but this is done with parental permission, and children are never identified by name.)

The portrait that is produced from a photo is held under my copyright (because it is an artistic product), but the original photo, of course, does not belong to me.

At your request, I am happy to delete all photos used to make a portrait from my computer after completion of your commission.

I make every effort to ensure that you will be satisfied with your portrait, and do my absolute best to accommodate any requests for changes to the portrait. However, once I've made more than 7 changes, or given 7 different options for color or layout or style of a portrait, I reserve the right to charge $10 per change. (Don't worry - it hasn't happened yet!)

I often have a waiting period for new orders, but I will let you know what this waiting period is before taking your order.

If you want to order multiple portraits of the same design, you get the second one at 50% off. (For example, you could order a large portrait for yourself and a smaller one for your mum and your mum’s would be half price).

You can order extra greeting cards for $2 each (inc postage)
