Capturing nature's intricate details in silver jewelry

My discovery and subsequent love of silver clay led to the creation of Blue Dot Jewelry. Silver clay is a delightful medium composed of microscopic particles of silver in a small amount of organic material. Once dried and fired in a kiln, only the pure silver remains.

The jewelry in my shop was made from original designs and real pieces of nature collected from botanic gardens, parks and trail hikes near home. Nature finds become silver in two ways: either they are pressed into a mold, which is then filled with silver clay, or the clay is thinned so it can be slowly painted right onto a leaf, built up layer by layer.

I grew up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. In 2006 I moved to NYC, then spent the next 10 years in Brooklyn, where Blue Dot was born on my studio counter. I now live and work with my husband and two kids in the Hudson Valley, where I continue to be inspired by the woods, gardens and beaches around us.

Hello and welcome to Blue Dot Jewelry on Etsy! Thank you for looking through my shop policies.

PHOTOS. Please note that all photos are taken with a digital macro setting, which makes items appear larger here than in person; be sure to read the measurements listed for each item.

SILVER CARE. All metals, with the except of pure gold and platinum, may eventually tarnish. To delay this process, I ship pieces inside a small tarnish-resistant plastic bag. These are designed to delay tarnish for up to two years.

In addition, I sell soft Sunshine polishing cloths, 3-3/4" x 2-1/2" for $2, which are recommended for silver care. The listing for cloths is here:

I fully guarantee my work for 6 months after purchase. Please be advised that fine silver is incrementally softer silver than sterling, and handling these pieces with care is recommended, as you would with any jewelry.

If you ever have a question or issue, please contact me. I'm available by Etsy messaging or at bluedotjewelry [!at] I try to respond always within 24 hours.

SHIPPING TIMING. Please allow 10 days for completion before mailing, although I often ship more quickly than this. (Please contact me with an urgent request as I will accommodate if at all possible.) I send packages via USPS First Class mail, which takes approximately 3-7 days to arrive within the US. These packages do include a tracking number. A Priority 1-3 day shipping upgrade is available, but again, if you need it rushed, please ask if this is possible and I will accommodate your timeline if possible.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: International shipping usually takes from 6 days to 2 weeks to arrive, but can occasionally take up to 4 weeks. This depends on local import and customs and is not in my control. Orders sent to countries other than the U.S. will not have a tracking number, but do have delivery confirmation. International orders are insured.

Please note, you will be responsible for paying any import, VAT, custom or other taxes assessed within your country. It is your responsibility to understand your local policies and pay the fees as necessary. Thank you for understanding that these fees are not part of our transaction here.
