Blue Fennel Vintage: a journey of rediscovery
I got the idea for opening my shop the summer I was visiting vintage shops looking for my wedding dress. I remembered how much I had loved visiting thrift stores and dressing up as a kid. However, in the years since my childhood (through junior high, high school, college, and graduate school), I had abandoned my own sense of style, and in some ways my sense of self, in an effort to conform and be liked by others.
My marriage was part of a challenging, personal journey I was taking in owning who I was and what I wanted from life, and as part of that journey, I decided it was time to rediscover my love of vintage, and I haven't looked back!
In my spare time, if I'm not at thrift stores or flea markets, you'll find me at the post office, in my bathroom handwashing clothing, or on my computer researching or editing photos. I'm blessed to be doing things I love (teaching and running an online business), and I'm also blessed to have a husband who lets clothing take over the spare bedroom and most of the closet space in our two bedroom condo, and who lets me go thrifting even on our vacations together.
It's been a fun and interesting journey the last few years, and I'm ready for the next steps!
