The cutest rattle! I chose to have it embroidered instead of the felt and safety eyes - it is equally as cute with the embroidery as in the picture! Beautifully made. Thank you.
Beginnings and Passions
How I Got Started:
My shop started one summer after my sister-in-law told me that I should try selling some of the toys and blankets that I had made for my nieces. At the time, I had very little experience with Etsy and had never considered selling any of my crafts. They were just something to keep me busy, but once I started my shop, I found that I really enjoyed it!
I started out wanting to make blankets, hats, and booties, but the amigurumi bug bit. It wasn't long before I had a long list of animals that I wanted to try and not enough time to do it. So, for now, my shop focuses primarily on crochet animals. I find them cute and cuddly, and when I finish each one, they always put a smile on my face. Who wouldn't want to create like that?!
About a year after opening my shop, my husband took stock of all of the yarn that I had "stockpiled" (really though, he is very supportive of my crafting!). He asked how I went about choosing the type of yarn and brand. I told him the type of yarn was easy, the project usually dictated that. But for the brand, I was pretty open to suggestions for high quality yarn.
As fate would have it, that same day I had a custom order request for an item made specifically with materials produced in the USA. (The customer wanted one of my beavers...in case you were wondering.) I found yarn to fit her request, and then decided from then on, I would only make my items with the same materials. With all of the bottom line thinking in this world, I felt that I had to give back. Etsy provided me with a way to sell my items for what a handmade item should be. They are one of a kind and made with love. In a world where mass production puts the little guys out of business, this was one way that I could show that I make and consume handmade and local goods. Not only does it make economical sense, it allows Etsy, and all other brick and mortar stores like it, to maintain their charm. So for me and my products, if it doesn't say "Made in the USA" it will not be used in creating an item for my shop.
Owner, Maker, Designer
Hello, My name is Jennifer and I am the one woman show behind Blue Moon Crochet. My crochet chops are left to the evenings as my days are spent teaching young middle school minds. What can I say, crocheting keeps me sane!
I am a middle school teacher by day and a crochet enthusiast/grad student by night. Each creation is usually inspired by either color or is something that my students suggest. (Their interest in my little creations is at times uncanny.) I love bright colored yarn! When I go shopping for new supplies, I can't help but walk down the aisles and think of how I can use each shade in my creations.
I crochet whether I have a reason to or not, and it is something that I thoroughly enjoy. After making a few items for my nieces, my sister-in-law suggested that I take a look at Etsy. I decided that selling items would be a great way to keep my yarn stash flowing, using the proceeds to try out new patterns and yarns. So, you get quality handmade items, and I get to keep on trucking.
All items are made with care in a smoke free and pet free home. I only use materials made in the USA. If I can't find it manufactured in the states, I don't use it. I feel like this is one small way that I can give back to the economy and support local business, as I believe small businesses are the backbone of American industry.

Additional policies and FAQs
Each item in the shop is hand crocheted. This allows each item to be unique. The first production of an item is photographed and posted. All subsequent orders are "reproductions" of the original item using the same pattern. Small variations sometimes occur.
My products contain small items (such as safety eyes, small pieces of felt, etc) that may not be suitable for young children.Safety eyes may not be suitable for children under 3 or if they are prone to bite/chew on the eyes. I offer embriodering for these parts as an alternative to the small pieces. Please use your own judgement when purchasing these items and make sure children are monitored while using toys with small parts.
Wholesale orders are welcome!! Please convo me with your specific items of interest and quantities so that I can better facilitate your request.
