Announcement   Welcome to Blue Ridge Mercantile! I create mostly one of a kind, quirky, folk art and primitive crafts. I love that old, worn, weathered look that is far from being perfect. With that in mind, any dents, chips, rust, uneven stitches, worn paint, scratches or stains that you see in my work are PURPOSELY DONE or already in the materials used to make them. I try to make each item unique, no two exactly alike .

While you are visiting, please keep in mind that most of my crafts are for decorative use and NOT meant to be used as children's toys. They are made with us "big kids" in mind! I have started working on crafts that are suitable for children (with adult supervision) and those can be found in the SOFT SCULPTURE TOYS section of my shop. Some have buttons or small embellishments that could pose a problem for babies and toddlers, so supervision is always advised.

If you are looking for handmade items that are perfectly imperfect, COME ON IN and have a look around. Thanks so much for visiting Blue Ridge Mercantile!

***Some of my items can be shipped INTERNATIONALLY. Please contact me and I will provide an estimate of shipping costs to your location.

About

Handmade crafts from the heart!

I've always enjoyed making things, especially from materials that would otherwise end up in the trash. I've used a lot of old farmhouse wood in my projects from a dairy farm in Bedford, Virginia. Most of that wood is used to make signs, animals and bases for animal pull toys. I also use a lot of natural twigs for my pompom flowers. There is never a shortage of those in the yard!

I don't really care for the mass produced, fresh off the assembly line look. I try to make each item unique, no two exactly alike. If the patterns are similar, I will change things up a bit by using different embellishments, fabric or paint color to create one of a kind crafts. I also love creating odd and whimsical crafts that always make me smile, from start to finish.

Please keep in mind that my most of my crafts are for decorative use. Although I do create a lot of toy like crafts, they are not meant to be used as children's toys. They are made with us "big kids" in mind! I hope that you will find something that puts a smile on your face and brings back wonderful memories.

I was very fortunate to have several of my original handmade projects published in Create & Decorate magazine a few years ago. It was a wonderful "how to" magazine with primitive, folk art and rustic crafts that included full size patterns and instructions to complete the projects. I really appreciate the opportunity to share those projects through Create & Decorate magazine. Thanks so much Beverly and Noelle! I've also had a set of my pompom flowers published in a baby shower album, with photos taken by Irving Photography in Denver, CO. They specialize in wedding and engagement photography and do such beautiful work. Thank you Ariel and Matthew for that wonderful opportunity.

Thanks so much for visiting Blue Ridge Mercantile!
