Blue Rose Arts & Crafts- A Lifetime Experiential Education
I started Blue Rose Arts & Crafts in 2009 as an outlet for personal artistic expression and an inlet for supplemental income. I came across these methods of glass & window decorating and thought, this is rather unique-I think I can do this! I like to play with many different media besides glass painting and plan on sharing more pieces from these "dabbling" experiences.
Not wanting to just follow the patterns developed by others, I played with the methods on different forms to feel out what works best for me. I am still developing a personal style but lean toward the Art Nouveau era for inspiration. My desire to express my faith has become stronger & will be more evident in future works incorporating not only imagery but scripture itself.
At first, I did the local arts/crafts fairs & farmers market circuit but, other responsibilities led me to focus on internet sales. It is a great learning experience both artistically and business -wise.
I hope my pieces give joy & peace to those who have or see them!
Owner, Designer, Maker, Curator
So. California native with 4 years of Jersey mixed in for some edge;) I have been artsy all my life- even have a B.A. in Film. Although a lot of my work is based on others' patterns, I am evolving my own style and plan to become a "true artist".
Blue Rose Arts & Crafts is a boutique internet & traveling sales company which was seeded in La Verne, California in the Summer of 2009. My focus is glass & window decoration. Each piece is hand decorated and therefore unique. My methods can simulate the effects of stained glass without the cost, maintenance, or weight. Future plans are to expand to mosaics and decorated woodwork.
Necessity is the mother of invention.
In this case, Creative Longing is the mother of entrepreneurship.
Even in difficult economic times, the need for hope & beauty remains.
Through my pieces, I hope that you will find beauty which will give you
moments of peace and encouragement throughout your days.

Refunds are possible in the case of shipping issues, as explained in the Refunds and Exchanges section.
Blue Rose Arts & Crafts currently uses USPS (United States Postal Service) priority flat rate boxes for shipping.
Therefore, the proper sized box rate is automatically included in purchases. Since most items are breakable/fragile, extra padding is done to ensure they arrive in good condition.
International shipping is is also done with USPS flat rate boxes.
For both International and Custom orders: If an item's size or weight goes above the flat rate box limit, additional shipping costs maybe charged to the customer- with prior email notice. And Shipping will occur once full amount is received.
Refunds and Exchanges
With Internet sales, we do our best to ship with care, as most of our items are truly one-of-a-kind. Some inconsistencies in texture and color are a part of methods used.
If you should receive an item that is broken, contact us immediately. Refunds can not be given if shop is not informed within 1 week (7 days) of receipt of item. If item is a gift shipped to another party not living at the same address as the buyer, 2 weeks notice is allowed. A contact card is sent with every item shipped so the receiver may contact us directly if there is any problem with the item they received.
A Full refund of the purchase price(including shipping costs) will be given or an equally priced replacement piece(s) will be sent to you, once the remains of the item(s) are returned (preferably including their original packaging).
If returning the item is not possible, photos clearly documenting the item as it was received in shipping can suffice.
Cracked pieces can, in some cases, be repaired. If it is possible, we will do so and ship the piece back to you at no extra cost. If not, the refund or replacement policy will be in effect.
In the case of replacement, you, the customer may choose an item or items that are equal to your purchase price. We will not choose for you as you, the customer, matter most! Shipping would, in this case, be on us.
With the Gallery Glass method (notated as CLEAN WITH DAMP CLOTH ONLY): Extremes in temperature can affect some pieces; cracking of paint may occur if shipping to very cold climates, softness and fading of color may occur if shipped to hot climates. Please read the "Additional Information" section for care & storage information.
Any damages (breakage, marrings, scratches, chips, or cracks) caused by usage are the sole responsibility of the purchaser. However, we can repair some damage, for a fee. Please contact us before sending the item in so repairs and fees can be discussed ahead of shipping.
See "Additional Information" for specifics on proper storage and cleaning of our items to avoid unnecessary problems.
Additional policies and FAQs
Blue Rose is willing to consider such arrangements with brick & mortar store owners.
The methods used are non-toxic and developed by known arts & crafts companies.
Currently, Blue Rose utilizes two methods of decorating:
The Pebeo - Vitrea160 method requires (once decoration is completed): 24 hours of drying time and approximately 1 hour of baking time. This method creates Glass & Metal, Dishwasher Safe items. Decoration is usually done on the outside or outer rims of items to allow them to be used in regular life, as well as for decoration. Please avoid scouring these items as they are still, painted pieces. Over time, and with steady usage, some fading and chipping may occur.
Care for Dishwasher Safe items (Pebeo- Vitrea160 method used):
Dishwasher safe does not allow for scouring with rough surfaces. It does not verify microwave or oven safety either. Although pieces are baked in an oven to cause the paint to permanently adhere to the glass or metal surface, please use each piece as their form suggests, dinner plates as plates, salad bowls as bowls, etc. Such utilitarian pieces are painted on the outside to allow for such use. For more decorative pieces, such as mirrors, wiping down with a damp cloth is suggested.
Store as you would any other fragile glass pieces.
The Plaid - Gallery Glass method requires (once decoration is completed): 3 full days of curing time and, once protectorant is brushed on, another full day to dry. This method creates Glass & Plastic items that should be cleaned with a damp cloth only. Do not put in the dishwasher or use any kind of rough, scouring surface to clean them. These are strictly decorative pieces and should used accordingly.
Per the company (Plaid, Gallery Glass): window decorations can be affected by extremes in temperature. Too Cold can lead to cracking, Too Hot can lead to fading and stretching. Therefore, they are intended for indoor, non-commercial use. Application to plastic surfaces, especially styrene & vinyl, will lead to permanent placement of the decoration. In other words, the item will adhere to the surface and will not be removed without serious damage to both the decoration and the non-glass surface. If properly placed on glass, removal is possible. Re- attaching is also possible when properly stored.
Storage & Care for Damp Cloth only items (Gallery Glass method used):
Wrap in Cellophane and then in bubble wrap. Do not wrap with any paper or other material as it may marr or stick to the surface. Smaller or flatter items; Suncatchers, Frame-ables, and Window Clings, can be stored flat in appropriately sized plastic storage bags such as Ziploc. Such a bag is given to the customer when originally purchased. When storing with ribbon, wire, or suction cup hooks, avoid those items from resting on the painted side of the piece or in-between surfaces as they can leave impressions in the painted surfaces or get stuck to them.
Do not put in the dishwasher or use any kind of rough, scouring surface to clean them. Gentle dish soap or glass cleaner may be used but, a lukewarm watered, soft, damp cloth is safest.
Storage & Care for Window Clings (Gallery Glass method used):
Window Clings can be stored flat in appropriately sized plastic storage bags such as Ziploc. Such a bag is given to the customer when originally purchased. Simply and gently wipe them down with a lukewarm damp cloth as needed. Not to be used in cars as they are more susceptible to extremes in temperature.
PATTERN INVENTORY & COPYRIGHT ISSUES:
The company holds a large inventory of patterns,
specifically for glass & window decoration as well as for general arts & crafts.
Patterns range from window cling size to a full sized entry door window.
Specific pictures will be shared when a custom order is in process
or a customer requests information involving a specific theme etc.
Any pre-existing photo or pattern given by a customer to the company for an order
will not be added to the inventory to avoid copyright infringement.
Personal drawings or designs by customers will be added
with the customer's consent.
Blue Rose has purchased a large inventory of patterns and crafting designs from various publishers and craft companies. We are aware of the copyrights and usage guidelines involved for our own inventory.
However, if a customer requests a piece based on; a design, pattern, photo, or drawing not in our catalog but from an existing item, the customer assumes all responsibility. This type of order is always a "custom" order. Unless a unique design or pattern is made by the company for the piece, such custom designs will not be duplicated for other customers. Finished pieces will be photographed and may be displayed for inspiration only. Should a customer create their own pattern, drawing, or photo for a project, we will ask permission before using it again or adding it to our inventory.
