My name is Kerry, Kerry Blueberry was a childhood nickname. (That is where my jewelry name came from.) I have been a maker since I was a young girl. I have always loved to make things with my hands. My grandmother taught me to knit and crochet. I was a frequent shopper at the local hobby store always spending any extra money on trinkets and bobbles to make my next project. I loved all my art classes in school and really enjoyed pottery in my young adult years.

Around the year 2000, I happened upon a part time job in a retail jewelry shop where my fascination with jewelry and the process behind each piece budded. I worked there for a few years filling my brain with knowledge from stones to metals to the process, to ideas and concepts. I was a young sponge who was fascinated with it all. Paired with that and my geology classes, my love for stones grew. The fact that these beautiful items were created inside the earth under the perfect temperature and perfect pressures still amazes me.

I was lucky enough to work for this small mom and pop shop for about 4 years. During this time they helped foster my yearn to learn by allowing me to work one day of the week learning to make jewelry. I was in heaven. I first learned how to restring and knot pearl strands. I almost immediately started purchasing stone beads and stringing and wire wrapping basic pendants and chains and making necklaces.

I then was taught very small and basic skills of forming wire metal into hoop earrings and cuff bracelets. I learned wire wrapping. When I became sufficient at those tasks, I was taught to solder. These are the basic techniques I still use today in all of the items I create.

From here I went to another jewelry store. Here I apprenticed as a bench jeweler and was even sent to Revere Academy in San Francisco to learn stone setting. My experience during this time was so valuable to my knowledge and skills. I really got to see a lot of jewelry and what was well made and what was not. I learned from master jewelers techniques that could have taken years of trial and error.

During this entire time I had always on the side of whatever job I had made and sold my jewelry creations. I would sell to individuals, clothing stores, jewelry stores, salons, anywhere that would like to look, I would show my wares.

In 2008 I had a daughter. My jewelry business took a back seat for a while while I settlted into becoming a mother. Since then it has been a slow process of building back my business. But, alas, at the end of 2014 I made the leap to follow my dreams. I decided to focuse solely on earning a living by doing what I have always enjoyed since I was a child; creating.

Jewelry is a great medium for this. It is an artistic express that people in general can relate to. People have been adorning their bodies with jewelry since time began. It is something that has always appealed to people. And because of this I am able to do what I love and support me and my child. That right there is something I am very proud of. I am grateful everyday that people can relate to the pieces I create. If not I would not be here doing what I do. So for that, I thank you all who have purchased from me and all who continue to support and like what I do as much as I do.

So currently, my business consists of a few wholesale accounts and this etsy store. If you are interested in wholesale, please email me at blueberryjewelry@gmail.
