Bluebird Finery creates vintage-inspired and contemporary jewelry for special occasion and everyday wear. Designs are available for retail and wholesale. Whether you’ve found yourself here searching for finery to match your something borrowed or blue, or whether you simply want something special to celebrate every day, I’m glad you’re here!

    About the Designer:

I’m a designer and illustrator with an affinity for unique jewelry. I first started making jewelry in first grade. I actually sold a few pieces to classmates back then. With the exception of wishing I could miraculously find or make a fancy vintage necklace for prom, I’d mostly forgotten about jewelry making until I was searching for a vintage style of necklace for my wedding. I couldn’t find what I was looking for, so I tried to make it. I made my own jewelry as well as jewelry for my bridesmaids and as gifts.

In the years since then, I’ve taken classes and also learned through a lot of trial and error. I briefly sold some of my designs under my other business name, but having such different things all under one name got confusing. The name Bluebird Finery came from a love of birds that I learned from and share with my grandma. I like to think she'd get a kick out of all the things her granddaughter is up to these days.

    Frequently asked questions
How do I care for my jewelry?

As with any jewelry, handle gently. Do not yank or pull the components, as they could be strained and then disconnect or break. Do not pull clothing over your jewelry; instead, put jewelry on after and take off before removing clothing. Avoid getting lotions and soap on your jewelry, and always keep jewelry dry.

    Sizing details

Customizations available on some designs. I’m happy to accommodate designs to suit the wearer and/or the the outfit. Contact for details. Using measuring tape (or ribbon/string that you can measure later), measure out how long the length of your jewelry needs to be to suit your specific outfit. If not included in a design, I can also add an extender upon request.

I'm interested in a previous design that is not currently for sale. May I order one?

Completed jewelry designs and component inventory are subject to availability. I'm happy to discuss recreating a design. If per the complexity of the order or my schedule I'm not able to complete the design quickly, I can put your inquiry on a waiting list. If I no longer have access to the exact components in the original design, I might be able to find suitable replacements.

    Wholesale availability

Some designs available for wholesale. Contact for details.

What can you tell me about the safety of your jewerly?

Jewelry components used, to my knowledge, are free of lead, cadmium, and other dangerous elements. The advantage of vintage-inspired jewelry designs is jewelry made from safer materials. I make a priority in selecting components that are most likely to be free of toxic metals or free of detectable levels of those things. However, since I can’t guarantee that with full certainty without a lab running tests on every single element, designs are intended for adults only (typically defined as age 14 and older). Additionally, small parts are not intended to be for or around children. Crystal components are typically made from lead oxide (PbO) which does not pose the same threat as metallic lead (Pb).

Can you explain what the different beads and jewelry materials are?

Check out this post on "Glossary of Jewelry Material Terminology" that I wrote on my blog for more details about what everything is.
