Hi, I’m Joanna Massey Lelekacs, the artist behind Bluefae Studio, where nature, story, and design come together.
My creative journey deepened after Hurricane Fran reshaped my home and my life, leading me to study art and design. Since then, my path has carried me through landscape architecture, farming, and a leadership role at the North Carolina Botanical Garden, with every step rooted in a love of community, color, and design as ways to understand the relationships that sustain life.
Creating art helps me connect more deeply with the plants and animals that inspire me, and I hope my work invites you to feel that same sense of wonder and belonging. My illustrations and designs are inspired by wildflowers, pollinators, and other plants and small creatures, often with a touch of whimsy, and come to life on silk scarves, sketchbooks, art prints, note cards, tote bags, and other accessories.
At the heart of Bluefae Studio are connection, care, and wonder. Each piece is designed with intention to bring the beauty and meaning of the natural world into your everyday life, whether as something you wear, use, or give as a heartfelt gift.
