Frequently asked questions

Sizing details

FAQ:

1. Can I choose any country (coin) in the world?
Yes, we have a variety of coins, although not all, but if provided (sent to us), we can make it.

2. Can I have the ring made in any size?
Unfortunately some coins are larger and cannot be sized down as some coins are too small and cannot be stretched too large (thin) Sizes will vary from 4-15 depending on the coin that is chosen.

3. Which colors can I choose?
This depends on the coin that is being used to make a ring. Some coins have copper giving red colors and nickel giving silver colors so it really depends on the metal composition of the coin.

4. Can any coin be contrasted or polished?
Yes.

5. Will the coin ring lose its shine?
Yes coins were not made to stay super shiny since they are constantly being handled with greasy oily and acidic hands. This will change the shine. Silver and Gold metals were chosen for jewelry because they keep or maintain their shine better than other metals and are softer to work with. We provide a jewelry wipe with every order that can help shine the coin by simply rubbing it hard.

6. What are the coins made of?
The identity of each coin can be found online. This is a great website that gives the metallic composition of most coins and also specifics like weight and description of design. http://en.numista.com/

Most coins are made of hard metals such as bronze, copper and silver

7. Can I pick any type of metal?
Rings will be made from the specific metallic content of the coin and this varies. **Rings can be reproduced in solid silver or gold but would come at an extra cost depending on the metal.

8. Why are some rings more expensive than others?
Some coins are much harder to work with than others, taking longer processing times. An example is the Australian coins that are copper plated steel. This ring can take 60-90 minutes to make compared to 15-30 minutes for quarter rings. Some coins are >90% silver bringing the added cost of the weight in silver as with Morgan dollar rings.

Skinny rings are made from coins that have two different metals or colors. When heated with the torch they disassemble into two independent pieces. The inner core and outer ring. The outer ring can be made into a slender more skinny ring. Unfortunately, this sort of ring cannot be sized down so they typically run much larger sizes

10. Can I become allergic to coin ring?
Yes, some people are allergic to certain metals like nickel and zinc and can only tolerate pure silver or gold 24 K rings.
