About

Printing the Old-fashioned Way

Hi. I'm Vanessa. I make linocut prints in my sunny Milwaukee studio.

I love the simplicity of making linocuts, a form of printing that has been used for over a hundred years. The tools I use are linoleum block, a linoleum cutter ( most often with a V gouge), a brayer and baren.

The process of carving a block can take anywhere from an hour to several hours (sometimes over the course of a couple of days to give my wrist a break!). Once a block is carved, it can be used over and over again to make a print.

Most of the prints in my shop are unlimited editions, however I do make limited edition reductive prints. With a reductive print, each time a color is printed the block is then cleaned, carved some more, and printed in a different color. By the time the printing run is complete, the block is destroyed.

While I'm a self-taught printmaker, I studied drawing, graphic design and book arts in New York (while working full-time as an art assistant and, later, a photo producer). I also took lessons in traditional Japanese arts and crafts while living in Kyoto and Tokyo.

Please send me a note if you have any questions about my prints.

Hello there and thanks for browsing Bluet & Clover. My prints and stationery are made-to-order linoleum block prints (linocuts).

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
At this time, I accept Paypal only. You can use a credit card or debit card to make a payment on Paypal without opening a Paypal account.
Shipping
I ship through the U.S. Postal Service, First Class. Prints and stationery are packaged in a plastic sleeve. Prints ship inside a cardboard envelope to prevent damage. Items will ship within two business days after I receive payment.
Refunds and Exchanges
I want all my customers to be 100% satisfied with my products!

Before you purchase, please make sure you are aware of the following:

Colors: I've done my best to represent colors as they appear in real life. Computer monitor settings may not accurately represent colors. Product photos are taken in natural light. The color names listed on my color chart are descriptive to avoid confusion. Inks are mixed by hand, so colors may vary slightly.

All prints are made by hand. While I've had lots of experience printing, I'm not a walking laser printer (thankfully). There are slight variations in each print. That's the beauty of hand-printing! And hey, no electricity was used in the printing process! Earth friendly indeed.

If you are dissatisfied with an item you've purchased, please email me within a week of the date you receive product. In the email, state the reason why you are unhappy with your purchase

Product must be returned within 30 days from the date you received it for full refund. Customer will pay all shipping fees for returned merchandise.

Shipping fees will not be refunded.

If your item is damaged by the USPS, please contact me immediately.
