Fantastic service and a great quality belt. I would recommend this shop to anyone for leather goods. I know that the recipient of this gift will love it. Couldn't ask for better craftsmanship! Will definitely be back in the future.

A Garage Floor Might Not Be The Comfiest Place To Work, But Boy Does It Work!

I've always enjoyed making things for the people I love, especially during Christmas. When Christmas rolled around in 2011, I had all sorts of new gift ideas. I really wanted to make my older brother something that would last him a long time; something useful and personal. The thought of a hardy leather belt imediately sparked my interest and curiosity.

Long story short: I bought some leather, found a nice buckle, got to work in my garage, and crafted him the worst belt I've ever seen.

Being a perfectionist, despite his adoration of my gift, I couldn't stand the thought of him wearing that sad thing. From that point forward, I made it thing to improve my beltmaking skills until I was satisfied with what I was making. That process took me about five or six months... being a perfectionist. As soon as I was happy with the appearance and feel of my belts, and when I was positive that my belts would last a long, long time, I started selling. And I refuse to sell any product that I am not 100% satisfied with.

I have spent countless hours carefully examining every belt I come into contact with. Most of my inspiration comes from Lucky Brand, Abercrombie, and about a million products from old-school leatherworkers I've come across online.

Most of my time outside of making belts - and I really should stop saying belts, because I make other strappy stuff too - is spent thinking about what kinds of things I can make! I feel kind of bad for my lovely girlfriend because she has to suffer through all of my excited ranting about leather.

So the real story is this: it's just me, my leather, and a stuffy garage. I could never be happier.

Shop policies

Welcome to my policy page! I'm pretty psyched that you came to check out what this store is all about.

I have entrusted Jesus Christ with every aspect of this business, and because of that, I will do whatever I can to provide a service to my customers that is more than fair. When it comes to my leatherwork, I am obsessed with quality and will refuse to sell any item that fails to meet my crazy standards.

Bolero Belt Co. leather products are all entirely hand-crafted (including stitching and everything!). I use only grade-A leathers, oil-based dyes, natural oils to condition the leather, and spirit based finishes.
I really appreciate you looking around. If you have any questions at all, feel free to shoot me a message!

- Belt Sizing -
The quickest and easiest way to give me an accurate size is to measure a belt you already own. Measure from the tip of the prong of the buckle (the part that rest on the buckle; or for plate-style buckles, the area where the prong sticks down from the buckle) to the hole that you use. If you don’t currently have a belt, give me a waist measurement using a tape measure. Measure over the pants you would wear a belt with, and make sure the tape measure is snug, but not too tight.
Belts vary from 1 inch to 1 3/4 inch wide and can fit up to 50 inch waists. If there is a need for something a little longer, please send me a message and we can go over some options.

- Leather Care - PLEASE READ
Submersion in water can potentially damage the leather. I have actually tested my products (by jumping into a pool with one of my belts on :D), and the belt returned to its previous state after drying. But even so, do take care of your products; if leather is exposed to water in this manner multiple times, it will eventually rot and probably become brittle. If you do submerse one of my products, let it sit until it's fully dry. DO NOT rub it with any kind of cloth. That's a great way to ruin the surface of the leather.
Leather is also a very porous material. Over time, leather loses its natural moisture (and the oils that I treat it with) and gets a bit thirsty. But don’t worry - there are tons of affordable leather care products out there for you to recondition your goods. Another good alternative to that is to take your product to a shoe repairman and have him fix it right up!
If you have anything else you want to discuss, you can always message me. For all other info, take a look at my policies page: http://www.etsy.com/shop/BoleroBeltCompany/policy?ref=shopinfo_policies_leftnav
