This lovely little fox brings me so much joy! Sofie always makes her creations special by adding extra care in the poses to make the sculptures seem to have a sweet and magical personality. Shipping is lightning fast and packaging is very secure and elegant. Thank you, Sofie! I will be back again and again to add to my collection of your wonderful artwork!

Sofie is so talented and captured all little details of my ferrets. She is also very patient during the process. The cake topper was delivered in time and well protected. I would definitely recommend her to any pet-owners!

My experience working with this shop and creator was simply perfect from start to finish! Sofie created a custom topper for my wedding cake that features the likeness of my four cats. The finished product is beautiful and every bit as well made and polished as the photos on the shop suggest. The attention to detail is phenomenal, from the tiny whiskers to the little details in each of my cats' markings, like a little nose freckle or a little white spot on the back. The topper will be a beautiful commemorative knick knack to display in my home long after my wedding. Sofie's communications with me were also prompt and helpful. She took careful measures to make sure the little details of the topper were just right. The item was finished, shipped, and arrived right on schedule and securely packaged. I am thrilled with this purchase!

Sofie did an INCREDIBLE job portraying our two dogs for our custom wedding cake topper! Every single detail from the markings to their facial expressions is spot on. She was even ablate mimic the flowers I will have in my bouquet! Her communication was prompt and her shipping time was accurate. I didn't cry when I picked my wedding dress, but I did cry when I saw my cake topper for the first time!!! :)

These little weasels are absolutely amazing! I am so excited to use them on our wedding cake. They are a perfect size and very detailed. Shipping was fast and Sofie used a signed shipment so we had peace of mind that our package would arrive safely. Thank you, Sofie!

As always, absolutely amazing! This was a gift for my mom whose dog just passed. She was very touched and the fact that it captures her dogs personality so well brought tears to her eyes. Thank you!

Guys!! I’m in love. It came out so good and even customized with purple flowers and a pink nose to match my baby girl (with my request). Even the packaging put me in awe. 100% recommended!!

STUNNING work. Bought this as a gift for my best friends wedding. And we couldn't NOT have been happier. Plan to buy another in a few months for my own wedding. Meticulously packaged with care too! I could not recommend this artist more.

Welcome to the Menagerie of Inscrutable Magic

"Bonjour Poupette" is what your French fairy godmother says every time she greets you, with a smile on her face.

"Bonjour Poupette" could be translated as "Hello Little One" but to me it means that you are recognized and loved, right now, for all that you are.

And yes, Bonjour Poupette is a menagerie of enchanting little animal people - 'Habitants délicats des forêts de nous-memes. (Sensitive inhabitants of the forests of ourselves.)' - Jules Supervielle

My Poupettes are spirited renditions of animal people and other magical creatures. Every figurine has a unique personality that emerges as I work, which truly makes them one-of-a-kind. Indeed, they have evolved over time and will certainly continue to do so. This is why I take the time to photograph each figurine, list them individually and only make items to order by request. I list new figurines regularly and make a limited number of custom orders each month.

Each figurine is made one at a time, by hand. I sculpt them with a premium, non-toxic, heat-cured, polymer-based modeling compound. I custom blend the polymer with pigment, mica, and metallic leaf to create unique colors and textures. Although polymer can be painted, I prefer the challenge of creating color variations through meticulous layering and blending of the material itself and rarely use paint. Properly cured polymer is an exquisite archival material and you can expect your Poupette to endure for generations.

Bonjour Poupette was a Featured Shop on the Etsy Blog:

I've been honored to have photos of my figurines published in Mollie Makes Woodland Friends, and Polymer Clay: Global Perspectives.

My wedding cake toppers have been featured in The Vintage and Handmade Bride Magazine, Seattle Met Bride and Groom and The Etsy Blog:

Frequently asked questions
Do you accept custom and personalized orders?

Yes, I accept a limited number of custom orders every month. I require payment to schedule the shipping date and I send photos when it is completed. Please contact me for more information.

By the way, I do not make anything shaggy or bristly, nor animals with complex markings, as they do not look good in my style (I wish they did!). I also never, ever copy other people's ideas, so please don't ask - thanks! ^_^

Can I place this sculpture directly on a cake without an additional base?

Yes, my figurines are made of a professional-grade, non-toxic polymer and do not require toxic paints or varnishes, because the pigment is permanently suspended in the polymer. Therefore, they can stand directly on a cake. They are also waterproof, and can be carefully hand-washed with a gentle soap as needed.

Why do you require Signature Confirmation? What if I'm not at home to receive the package?

Signature Confirmation is typically required to prevent theft (unless shipping to a USPS PO Box). I do make exceptions by request. Just know that this may increase the chances of it being stolen, if you are not at home to receive it. (In ten years of shipping, the only packages that have gone missing, were left on doorsteps or at apartment doors.)

If you are unable to sign for the package on delivery day, I recommend keeping an eye on the tracking, and once a delivery attempt has been made, go to your local post office with the tracking number to pick it up. Back in the day USPS used to leave notices and attempt re-delivery, but this has become rare in recent years, and I do not count on it.

How long will it take for my order to ship?

I ship all orders (with the exception of custom and Express mail orders) on Mondays and Thursdays (with the exception of USPS holidays, when I ship the next business day). If you are on a tight deadline, or purchase Express shipping - please contact me directly and I'll get it out ASAP.

Can you tell me more about shipping to U.S. addresses?

'Free Shipping' to U.S. addresses is typically USPS First Class Mail, which takes from 3-5 business days, depending on your location.

All of my shipments include a USPS Tracking Number which is automatically sent via e-mail as soon as the package has shipped.

Signature Confirmation is usually included to discourage theft.

If you purchase Priority Mail shipping, your package will automatically be insured up to $100 and the delivery window is 2-3 business days.

Priority Mail Express Shipping is available for purchase at checkout and takes 2 business days, unless you live in Portland, OR (which will be next day delivery).

Do you include paper invoices in your packages?

You will receive a digital invoice/receipt for your order through Etsy. For packages shipped within the U.S., I do not include a paper invoice, but if you would like one, just let me know and I'll be happy to include one. I am required by law to include 1-3 paper invoices with the purchase price in my packages for all international orders.

Do you ship internationally? What do I need to know?

Yes, I regularly ship internationally. Be advised that actual transit times vary by destination and are not guaranteed by any Postal Service.

International shipping is especially unpredictable due to COVID-19 and I have witnessed long, unexplained delays. I highly recommend purchasing Priority or Express Mail shipping at checkout.

I urge international buyers to be aware of how your local Customs and Postal Service operates before making a purchase. Most countries will charge their own duty and/or import fees that I have no knowledge of, or responsibility for.

Please visit this page for more information on your country:
https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000337247

Can you mark my item as 'Gift' or alter the cost on the customs form?

No, I will not mark international items as "gifts" or alter the cost of goods because this is mail fraud and has serious consequences in the U.S. (13 U.S.C. § 305 : US Code - Section 305: Penalties for unlawful export information) All customs forms are automatically created through USPS and Etsy. They are accurately labeled 'Merchandise' with the actual cost of the item in compliance with international law. I cannot predict nor can I be responsible for delays in customs or any additional fees or taxes that may be charged by your local jurisdiction.

In the event of damage, what do I do?

For minor repairs, I recommend using a cyanoacrylate gel (also known as 'super glue'. I highly recommend Loctite Gel). If a figurine arrives damaged from shipping, I will repair or replace the figurine depending on the amount of damage. Simply let me know and ship it back to me, preferably in its original packaging. I will refund the shipping cost to cover the unforeseen expense and repairing your piece will be my number one priority as soon as it arrives. My turnaround time will be just one week.
