Announcement   My name is Lisa Marie. My specialty and passion is the Heirloom Hanky Bonnet. Through-out the years I have made improvements by adding a stitch here and a fold there. My bonnets are not just a novelty but are made to be worn and can be hand-washed and pressed. I use new handkerchiefs unless listing says "vintage."

I love hand stitching a handkerchief into a delicate bonnet. It is heart warming to know that a simple piece of cloth can be turned into a beautiful keepsake. The tradition is for a baby to wear the bonnet home from the hospital, christening or dedication. After the bonnet has been used it will be put away in a safe place till she or he gets married. Then with a few clipped stitches the bonnet becomes the wedding handkerchief to be used by the bride.

My hanky bonnets are the perfect gift for Baby Showers, Christenings, Dedications or just to wear. All bonnets come gift boxed with traditional hanky poem. There will not be a dry eye at the shower if the poem is read aloud.

As you can tell, I also have fun creating with different mediums. My sister Kimberly J is responsible for the tote bags. She is a wizard with the sewing machine and a glue gun. I call her lovely tote bags, "Adopt a Bag," because each tote is an individual. Thank you for stopping by.

Absolutely ADORE this special keepsake! The first bonnet was too small and she went WELL out of her way to get lace and make a special one for our daughter's baptism. She went above and beyond to make this for us and the event. Its beautiful and we will cherish this always, even on her wedding day! Thank you for all the time and communication -- it's perfect!

About

My name is Lisa Marie, I enjoy art projects and crafting.

My specialty and passion is the Heirloom Hanky Bonnet. Through-out the years I have made improvements by adding a stitch here and a fold there. My bonnets are not just a novelty but are made to be worn and can be hand-washed and pressed.

I have been making the heirloom baby bonnets since the 70's. That is when I was given my first bonnet for my daughter. Then I had my second baby girl but this time I made hers. I kept the bonnets in my sock drawer for 20 plus years. At my daughters wedding showers I presented both of them with the bonnets they wore home from the hospital. I read the poem to the guests; tears clouded my vision as I struggled to read. With a few sniped stitches the bonnets became the hankies they walked down the aisle with. The hankies were re-stitched into bonnets and worn home from the hospital by their daughters.

This is a beautiful tradition to be handed down and I'm so glad that I can be part of this history. For every bonnet I make, I say a prayer that God will send his angels to watch over each one of these precious gifts from God.

My sister Kimberly J is a wizard with the sewing machine and a glue gun. I call her lovely totes bags, "Adopt a Bag," because each tote is an individual. I only have a few of her bags because she hasn't been well enough to sew. Your prayers are appreciated.
