Baby wearing and back in the studio today, making a new edition of this Trust / Taunt zine that's destined for New York. Super tired, but it feels amazing to be creating again raised_handsskin-tone-2sparkles

“The Topography of Bound Grief” is now available for purchase! This tapestry was recently part of a museum exhibition entitled ‘Keeping Busy’ at Historic Northampton, where five women artists were asked to respond to an 1884 mourning quilt.
Just sent off this embroidered mantra to its new home. I love finding fellow Louise Bourgeois fans out in the world. raised_handsskin-tone-2

About

Book Meat Studio: Text + Textile + Texture

I'm captivated by fibers, paper, thread, yarn; what I see as connective tissue in art. And so I make woven wall hangings, embroideries, hand bound books and zines.

The material and texture of my pieces is integral to my practice, and its connection to the body. Evidence of the hand, and the physical marks of the body, is always present in my work. I'm particularly interested in women's relationships to their bodies, and the roles that their bodies have played throughout history. This is often reflected in the text I choose to embroider and the zines I'm drawn to create. I enjoy the process of making.

I live in a 335 year old stone house in the Hudson Valley, tucked in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains. Many of the textures I try to capture in my work are echoes of this landscape.

I started my creative practice as a poet, and soon sought physical means to represent the fabric of my writing. I have a BA in Creative Writing, and an MFA in Creative Writing & Book Art.

I'm happiest with a pen or a needle in my hand.
