About

Saving the planet two earlobes at a time!

I was looking for beach glass earrings to purchase for a friend in Arizona. Oregon doesn't have as much beach glass as driftwood and sea shells. I didn't find any earrings on that trip to the coast but have been working with glass my entire life as a stained glass artist.

I thought about what beach glass is. Broken bottles and glass ware that have been tumbled by water and sand for years until it is smooth and sanded and the colors muted. I had a rock tumbler and several empty wine bottles so started my journey of creating lightweight, translucent glass jewelry.

I recycle bottles and other glass ware by breaking and shaping the pieces then putting them in my rock tumbler with beach sand. It takes nature 35 to 50 years to completely smooth the glass and it takes me under 2 weeks! The main difference is that I can control the thickness and shapes. I can get 5 different shapes from the glass I am breaking. Some parts of the bottles and plates are thicker than others so each piece of glass is unique.

I love glass. I love the way it transmits light, the variety of colors available in the most ordinary of bottles and plates, and the way it feels in your hands after it's been tumbled in beach sand.

Glass artist and photographer for 40 years!! I created Boozy Baubles, recycled glass jewelry in 2009 with earrings going into shops and on Etsy in late 2009. Recycling glass bottles, jars and plates has given me an endless supply of raw materials with the added bonus of being eco-friendly. I break, shape and tumble the glass bits in beach sand and grit and am rewarded with beautiful matte finish smooth edged glass pieces that I can drill, pair and play with!! I use sterling silver findings for their quality and beauty and various metals for beads and loops. You can send me a special piece of glass that is hiding in a cupboard and I can turn that into earrings for the family!! Contact me for details. A lovely way to repurpose a cracked dish, plate or bottle!
Revelation Cards went into print in 2007 as a way of utilizing the many photos I had taken of gargoyles and statues on my trips to Europe. I paired the images with inspirational quotes and have a very unique greeting card line! I am drawn to the timeless quality of the statuary.
