Hola y bienvenidos a mi tienda!

Mi viaje para crear joyas a partir de insectos comenzó cuando encontré a una viuda negra en mi porche una noche, me asusté y la maté. Me sentí muy mal por eso (de hecho, tuve pesadillas de que su fantasma araña volviera a perseguirme) y busqué preservarla en resina como una especie de disculpa. Me di cuenta de lo bonita que era cuando me tomé el tiempo para mirarla, así que comencé a encontrar más insectos muertos para preservar. Ahora solo conservo insectos que yo, o uno de mis muchos "proveedores", también conocidos como familiares o amigos, encontramos muertos. Pienso en ellos como una especie de joya viviente, y me he ganado mucho respeto al identificar y leer sobre los diferentes insectos que tenemos aquí en California. Me enseñaron a matar cosas como viudas negras y serpientes de cascabel, pero he aprendido más sobre lo importantes que son para nuestro ecosistema y lo improbables que son sus mordeduras. Soy tan molesto ahora, que en realidad guardo y libero moscas domésticas. ¡Moscas domésticas!

Cuando comienzas a mirar a tu alrededor en el suelo afuera, ¡seguro que encuentras muchas cosas limpias! También he encontrado una nueva apreciación por nuestras pequeñas y adorables flores silvestres, así como por las rocas, los minerales e incluso la basura.

Fui a la licenciatura para biología marina, pero nunca presté demasiada atención a las plantas y animales terrestres. También soy músico de noche y estudiante de pre-odontología / asistente dental de día.

¡Tomo pedidos personalizados! Nada es demasiado extraño para mí. He puesto dientes, pelo de mascotas, cenizas y muchas otras cosas interesantes en resina. Siéntase libre de enviarme un mensaje si tiene alguna pregunta específica sobre algo que le interesa preservar.

También a veces enumero otras obras de arte que he hecho en el pasado o artículos vintage que encuentro.

Y en caso de que te estés preguntando sobre el nombre de mi tienda, ¡Boring es mi apellido! Es otra cosa extraña que he aprendido a abrazar recientemente. Y somos decenas... ¡DOCENAS!

Hello and welcome to my shop!

My journey to creating jewelry out of insects started when I found a black widow on my porch one night, freaked out, and killed her. I felt really bad about it (I actually had nightmares that her spider ghost came back to haunt me) and looked into preserving her in resin as a sort of apology. I realized how pretty she was when I took the time to actually look at her, so I started finding more dead insects to preserve. Now I only preserve insects that I, or one of my many "suppliers", aka family or friends, find dead. I think of them as a sort of living jewel, and I've gained a lot of respect through identifying and reading about the different insects that we have here in California. I was brought up taught to kill things like black widows and rattlesnakes, but I've learned more about how important they are for our ecosystem, and how unlikely their bites are. I'm so annoying now, I actually save and release houseflies. Houseflies!

When you start looking around on the ground outside, you sure find a lot of neat things! I've also found a new appreciation for our small and adorable wildflowers, as well as rocks, minerals and even trash.

I went to undergrad for marine biology, but never paid too much attention to terrestrial plants and animals. I'm also a musician by night and a pre-dental student/dental assistant by day.

I take custom orders! Nothing is too weird for me. I've put teeth, pet hair, ashes and a lot of other interesting things into resin. Feel free to message me if you have any specific questions about something you're interested in having preserved.

I also sometimes list other pieces of art that I've done in the past or vintage items that I find.

And in case you were wondering about my shop name, Boring is my last name! It's another weird thing that I've learned to embrace recently. And there are dozens of us...DOZENS!
