About

Born Again Quilts brings FrankenBlankies back to life! (and we sell vintage textiles too!)

Welcome to Born Again Quilts. I am shop owner Lois Levihn.

I not only have an Etsy shop, I also have a studio/shop located at 4005 South Wayne Ave. in Fort Wayne, Ind. 260-515-9446

My mother taught me how to embroider dish towels and pillow cases when I was nine years old and I have been doing needlework including quilt making ever since.

I started collecting quilts about thirty-five years ago. Like many collectors I had my eyes on the "perfect" ones. Many of these have now been sold through Etsy to satisfied customers around the world.

As quilt prices rose I started looking at the "less than" perfect quilts and grew to appreciate their beauty: Just like the "less than" dogs and cats at the Allen County SPCA that we support.

So I found my true calling when I started taking quilts and restoring them back to a better place in life. I studied quilt restoration through the Kirk Collection and traveled to France on a Deb Roberts World of Quilt travel tour to study their vintage textiles and quilts.

The quilts I sell on Etsy have not undergone any major restoration. At most seams have been re-sewn or reinforced.

I may be engaged to speak at your event. Many people find Quilt Crime Investigation autopsies both fun and informative. Contact me if you are interested.

I am proud to be a lefty and every August 13, International Left-handers Day we celebrate "LeftFest" at the BAQ studio. Proceeds raise let us give a helping "southpaw" to the animals in need.

Thank you for stopping by and learning a little about me; I look forward to hearing from and learning a bit about you!

A needleworker taught by mom. I found my calling in hand quilting. Like unwanted cats at the shelter, I find quilts in need of needle, thread and vintage fabric and bring them back to life. Now I own a studio/shop in a historic neighborhood.
