About

A Beautiful Life, One Piece at a Time.

"Living the dream" as an artist is no easy task. There is a lot of romanticism associated with things like inspiration and creativity. For me, they are the product of working very, very diligently and loving what I do. I never believed my college professors when they told me how much I would have to work, but fortunately, I like it.

I find the allure of mastering such a deep skill set thrilling. Porcelain is the most difficult clay body to work with. Throwing on the wheel requires adept motor skills. Formulating and firing glazes requires precise methods, tools, and a working knowledge of chemistry. All of these skills must be mastered before I can even dip my toes into the waters of aesthetics. Then I can pull from geology, history, and contemporary art for inspiration.

Every time I make an object, even if it is simply a coffee mug, it is a labor of love that hones my technical skills. I refine and meditate upon all my aesthetic decisions, incrementally evolving every detail over time.

The best part is when my work for the day is finally done. I get to sit down, make a cup of tea and really enjoy the fruits of my labor. Whether I am hosting a dinner party or packing up my work for a crafts fair, it is always a thrill to share this joy with others. Etsy has become my newest way of sharing.

BRAND NEW! I am on youtube! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dq7tOmNWMNk&feature=youtu.be

All my work (Except the Crystalline Work) is microwave, dishwasher, oven-safe and non-toxic. I work the materials with my hands, and I use them in my own home for everything. You can do the same, just don't put them on an actual flame or stove top!
