Announcement   IMPORTANT BUSINESS ANNOUNCEMENT: 2 days ago (February 16), my little sewing business reached it's 6th year doing retail business at the handmade online market, Etsy.com. It has been an incredible 6 years of creating beach bags, gadget accessories, wristlet handbags, scarves, picnic blankets, baby blankets and custom designed name quilts! I truly enjoyed each and every item I created (yes, even the dreaded satin ruffles ;) ) for my customers and especially loved the process of working with a client in creating a keepsake quilt or special gift for a loved one!! Within a short time of opening my business, I watched my shop grow from an occasional sale once or twice a month that more or less supported my sewing hobby to becoming a full time job that provided an additional income for my growing family. Reflecting on the blessings of my work at etsy makes me sad to make the following announcement:

Boutique1324 is closing shop permanently.

For the last year or so, I have been on a spiritual journey of really seeking the Lord's will/purpose for me as a woman, wife and mother. Long story made very short, I feel with every part of my being that God is leading me away from my business in order to be fully present for my family and to wholeheartedly serve orphaned children in foster care. Working a full time business, homeschooling my children, providing care for orphaned children, and managing my household has been beyond challenging these past 5 years. I was always feeling as though I wasn't fully giving 100% of myself to any of these areas. Finding balance eluded me to no end! God knows this about me and is calling me back to making my family my number 1 priority. Confession: I am a work-a-holic and when there is a "job" for me to do, I most often make time for that first. My husband and children need me to be fully present for them and in order to do that, I must let go of some things. Work is that thing for me.

In the coming month, I will continue to sell out of what I have in fabric inventory. Bags and blankets will not be relisted as supplies run out. I expect the virtual doors to be closed by mid - late March, possibly sooner as the Lord provides.

Thank you for being such amazing customers. It has been an honor and pleasure sewing for you!!

~ What customers are saying of their shopping experience at Boutique1324:

**I cannot say enough wonderful things about SylviaLyn and her products. She is such a kind person and very prompt with communication and was so accommodating with my order and requests. She kept me updated as to the status of the order and even delivered them earlier than expected. These bags are such high quality--exceeded my already high expectations. I would purchase again from her in a second.

**So pleased!!! I ordered a quilt as a baby gift, and it is magnificent. The quality is exceptional: great craftsmanship and lovely design. Perhaps best of all, SylviaLyn, the shopkeeper, was a joy to interact with. She helped me to plan the color scheme and fabrics, and went out of her way to work with me to plan a quilt that suited the recipients. I highly recommend purchasing from this boutique!

Thank you so much for visiting!! Come again soon ♥

A bit about me and how I was inspired to build a sewing business -
Growing up as an Amish girl in the 4th largest Amish community in Ohio, I was privileged to be in the company of women who were homemakers, bakers, quilters, crocheters, seamstresses and crafters of all sorts. Though I am no longer Amish, it seems only natural for me to follow in the footsteps of the women I grew up with.

One of the fondest memories of my childhood are of the days my mother took us along with her to monthly/weekly "quilt gatherings" held at my great Grandmother's home. All the women that came to the gathering helped my Grandmother piece together the quilts that she would sell for extra spending money. I remember dreaming of the day that I would be one of the women (grandmothers, mother, aunts & cousins) gathered around the quilt rack stitching away as they fellowshipped together. Years later after leaving the Amish community, a dear friend from church asked if I would like to learn how to quilt. She taught me a basic block and I was HOOKED immediately! I started reading all I could get my hands on about sewing & quilting and fabric stores became my new favorite hangout. I learned all I could on sewing techniques & taught myself all that I know how to sew today. I am so fortunate to be living out the dream of following in my great Grandmother's footsteps that I had as a little girl and count the blessings that flow from my sewing business daily!!

I am so thankful for Etsy where I can use my creative side as a way to add to my family's income while I stay home to raise my children!

The name of my shop is inspired from the virtuous woman found in Proverbs 31.
...She selects wool and flax
and works with eager hands.
...She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.
She sees that her trading is profitable,
and her lamp does not go out at night.
In her hand she holds the distaff
and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
... She makes linen garments and sells them,
and supplies the merchants with sashes.

Thank you so much for visiting my little shop!
God bless you!
