Brazenly Hand Dyed and Sewn
I had dreamed of having a little shop(I like a little shop) ever since I was a child. I remember making friendship bracelets in middle school and trying to sell them. In high school, I made home coming mums and tried to sell those. I went to college to pursue a theatre degree and spent more time in the costume shop than I did on stage. Fast forward a few years and I have a young family and not much in the way of a creative outlet. My sister in law and her husband were both knitters and I taught myself to knit.
That was the beginning of my trip down the rabbit hole. I remember standing in the aisle at Michaels Craft Store just being flummoxed by the yarn selection. I did not know how to read a yarn label and took several minutes to choose my Barnat Softee Satin-Mostly because it was on clearance. I made 3 garter stitch scarves out of the yarn-and had much left over. My very next project was socks for my husband with size 13 feet. Looking back, I think that is a little silly, but I am glad that I did it.
Fast forward a few years again and I have also been sucked into the world of spinning-both on drop spindle and wheel. I have 2 wheels and 4 spindles. My wheels get more time than my spindles do, but I do sometimes spindle. My favorite to spin is BFL and Polwarth.
