About

Rekindling the family craft

This shop is an adventure in creativity. From costume design to production and shipping, we focus on improving technique and turn around time during the busy season. The wonderful adventure springs forth from a long personal history in women's craft.

I was raised by grandmothers who lived a crafting lifestyle. Each day was woven together with bits of life’s necessities and pieces of craft sewing. We lived in an ever flowing process of creativity. My grandmothers were so good at their craft, these women supplied local dealers with a variety of hand-made products ranging from dolls to apparel.

However, as my generation grew, and local jobs disappeared into other countries, the grand art of our women washed out of our family. The things we used to create as a part of our lifestyle became cheaply made and cheaply available in large superstores, supplied by foreign workers. For a while, the easy come / easy go mentality made me forget the quality goods we made in America and the empowerment we had as women who knew how to handmake products. Our own crafted goods lasted for generations. Meanwhile, the average American often settles for imported junk, made by factory slaves, because we have lost the memories of how quality life style is linked with quality work, quality goods and quality people.

As the tides changed in my life, I took the opportunity to utilize the sewing skills that were imprinted into my mind as a child. My own crafting practice is blossoming into a working home based system of quality hand-made goods. I realized it is my duty to continue the family craft while doing my part in making American products. This shop is a beautiful journey in not letting go of women’s knowledge and industrious creativity.

Welcome to my shop. I work from a residential location and create new costumes and everyday garments on a regular basis. I welcome custom requests, rush orders and plus size requests on all items.

Returns and exchanges
I gladly accept returns
Contact me within: 14 days of delivery
Ship items back within: 30 days of delivery
I don't accept exchanges or cancellations
But please contact me if you have any problems with your order.
The following items can't be returned or exchanged
Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalized orders
  • Perishable products (like food or flowers)
  • Digital downloads
  • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
  • Items on sale
Returns and exchange details
Thank you for reading my policies! These policies exist to help you understand how this shop operates and to protect both buyer and seller.

Limitations on refunds:
I do not refund items that were mailed in a rush condition. If you have me rush an order to you to meet a short deadline, your sale is final.

I will provide a refund on any garments that are defective! I have only had one item returned for defects. I do expect buyers to send me back the defective item. I will inspect the item and evaluate the garment to ensure the garment is in new and unused condition. Please note that unused spandex fabric has a unique quality and I inspect all garments before mailing, as well as having handled all areas of the garment during construction. Signs of use and washing will result in no refund. When the defective item is received back and I verify that the garment is in unused condition, I will provide a full refund.

Exchanges:
I do not exchange for preference change of mind or size mistakes. Please measure yourself or your child by wrapping the tape measure around the torso completely. I take exchanges on a case by case basis and cannot remake orders. Any size mistakes that I may choose to accommodate will be charged a 35% restocking fee, no exceptions.

Size Choice:
I will help you choose a unitard size by referring you to my torso photo in each listing. My shop policy on sizing is: 1) measure your torso and waist and 2) order size based on your torso and waist measurements. Please note that short people can have long torsos and tall people can have short torsos. You must measure your own torso because torso size is unique to each person. If your measurements do not fit within my size chart, contact me and I’ll custom cut your garment to fit. However, spandex costumes stretch. IF you are one to three inches larger in waist than your torso size, the unitard will stretch and fit well! If your waist is more than one inch (or four centimeters) smaller than torso size, write waist size in note to seller and I’ll cut your costume to fit your waist. You must write the smaller waist size in note to seller so I will know what to do!

Plus Size:
Plus Size contact me. Pulse size has a small fee for extra fabric. I love plus size people! I am a plus size person, as a tall and large framed woman. I accommodate all plus sizes but you need to contact me for personalization.

Shipping
Turn around time:

I ship within 1 to 15 days unless we are in halloween season (Sept - Early October) where orders vary. I do not guarantee shipping turn around times during halloween season. During halloween season, there may be delays in turn around times. You must inform me of all deadlines to ensure your order meets your time needs.


Anyone who cares about their order needs to upgrade to Fed Ex Shipping. Fed Ex is the only reliable carrier for your package. Do not choose USPS if buying after the 16th of October.

USPS:
I take zero responsibility for USPS delivery times or delivery follow through. USPS priority mail is not a timeline guaranteed service. Priority mail often does not function properly and customers blame me for the problems with USPS delivery times (like priority 3 day mail taking 10 to 12 days, complete loss of package or failure to acknowledge package once scanned at a USPS facility). Again, choosing USPS as a carrier is ordering at your own risk.

In 2018, USPS lost a California package, leaving a client without any options. The tracking appeared on the screen but when the client called to investigate, USPS said that the tracking was not accurate and the package was probably "eaten by a machine." In 2017, I had all packages scanned received by USPS and in scanning, they left off two packages that had zero acceptance that was not caught by my mail person. I had losses because of USPS and insurance doesn't cover the package if it's mailed before halloween and not found until after halloween. Therefore, if USPS is your halloween costume choice, your order is not guaranteed to arrive at your destination before halloween, or at all, and you order at your own risk.

Rush Orders:
I cannot take a rush order without using Fed Ex Shipping. I find Fed Ex is the most affordable and reliable shipping service for time sensitive packages. Also, rush orders are not refundable.

Shipping Address:
I do not change shipping address. I cannot alter the shipping address in any way shape or form. Buyers must enter the correct shipping address. If you shipping address is not correct, I must cancel the order and have buyer re-purchase order with correct address. I also do not call USPS and try to track down your package. Thanks for understanding.
