This is a beautiful pattern! Linda was very helpful before my purchase and answered a lot of questions. She was also amazing following up afterwards. I have purchased from different shops on Etsy for many years and I have never met a shop owner as friendly and service minded as Linda! You can feel absolutely confident purchasing from her. I’m a happy customer. I will be back!

*palm to forehead* "Me and my Bright Ideas!"

The name came before the shop. I can easily get myself up against a brick wall (hence the *palm to forehead* visual) and that was so true when I started my graphic design business in the 1980s. I worked at home until business boomed enough for me to afford shop space, then just when it was time to grow some more, along came my first-borne daughter (a *palm of hand to forehead* moment). I moved everything home, the graphics demand shrank with the popularity of desktop publishing, and I became a seldom-employed stay-at-home mom. Looking for ways to keep my sanity, I started dabbling in sewing and fiber art, and particularly enjoyed repurposing thrift store finds and making dolls. After amassing a collection of both, I decided they needed to be in a boutique so others could enjoy them. Alas, shop space was expensive and out of the question. Craft fairs were an option, and I did a few of those, but those experiences left me poorer than when I began. Galleries are great for networking and publicity, but sales are few and far between. (*palm to head* again).

I knew there had to be a way to have a retail presence for my ever growing collection of items, and then….I discovered Etsy! I really enjoy posting my products and chatting with potential buyers and fellow artists. So, maybe this is just another of my Bright Ideas, but it sure is fun! My Etsy store allows me to show and sell my creations, without the overhead of a retail location, and lets me tap into a much larger market. I love it!

I love incorporating my passion for sewing with my love for textiles. Making "something out of nothing" always fascinates me! I seldom buy new fabrics, instead I choose to upcycle thrift store treasures and repurpose my own hand-dyed, complex cloth.

Shop policies

In this era of excess and economical uncertainty, I find it sinful that humans dispose of so many useful items. Gone are the days when people wear their clothes to the point of being threadbare, or (gasp!) in need of repair. Whenever I peruse a thrift shop or yard sale for orphaned objects to use in my Art To Wear, I feel I am doing my part to give an item a new lease on life, and maybe helping that landfill grow a little more slowly.

Returns and exchanges
I do hope we will never have to deal with this, but in case you are not satisfied with your purchase, you may ship it back to me (at your expense) and if it arrives in original condition, I will send you a refund. Please feel free to contact me before you buy, with any questions about the item.
When you decide to adopt one (or more!) of my creations, please pay promptly so I can get it shipped to you immediately. Cash, check, money order or PayPal accepted. If your check bounces, I’m going to be angry and charge you a fee. Please don’t make me do that. Thank you.
I will send your item first class mail, so it should arrive in less than a week, unless you don’t live in the continental United States. If you need it sooner, please let me know and I will research the cost for that. Keep in mind there will be an additional charge for other than first class mail.
Additional policies and FAQs
• My Patterns are, for the most part, from my personal collection (except those I've created myself.) It's time to give them a new home!
• My Art Dolls are made from hand dyed fabrics and embellishments, some that might be considered vintage, so it’s kind of a cool thing!
• My Art To Wear is made from upcycled and repurposed items, which means they are also one-of-a kind. They are made from used clothing, not brand new unless I luck out and find, in my thrift shop travels, something that’s never been worn. I carefully select my “orphans” one at a time: they have to be up to my standards before I adopt them! I wash the raw materials (even the new stuff) in perfume-free detergent, but it is difficult to totally remove the chemical fabric softeners that a lot of people use nowadays. I do my best to get them out, but I want to let you know this in case you have any allergies to perfumes that might be accidentally left in the fibers.
